These are propaganda articles by western media. Anyone remotely familiar with politics of Lebanon or Middle East or the wider non-western world knows that there are far more pressing issues during elections than these ones. It's a brute fact. It may be that some parties have this item on agenda but it's hardly the main issue that will force people to vote for them. And, a lot of these laws are legacy of French and European colonialism in the first place, who have now done a 180 degree turn.

Post Revolution France decriminalised homosexuality, both at home and in the colonies. At most there were laws in the colonies related to public decency, but that is about it. This is the complete opposite to the British, who enforced a particularly harsh regime of goal and other extreme punishment's on those caught committing homosexual acts, probably because the English(and the Scots) are very prone to buggery. Any anti-gay laws in former French colonies can't be blamed on French culture and laws. The Lebs only have themselves to blame for this shitfest.
