/r/politicalhumor aka /r/politics' bad meme sub compares the NFL telling their millionaire employees to cut the shit because of ratings to slavery. Sort by controversial, it's a total shit show when anyone mentions this has been commonplace in the NBA for years. Lol

I am not sure which is more cringey, the litany of erroneous assumptions you splayed out or the act of calling upon the student archetype with the intent of derision. Anti-intellectualism, check. src

I don't have a horse in this race, but isn't the go to call card for the Left the saying:
Does not apply now?
1 CirqueDuFuder 2018-05-24
Nothing applies to the left. They also love to move free speech with corporations. They hate free speech. This isn't first amendment issue they will gladly tell everyone. Well same applies here.

u/pizzashill we need some mental gymnastics to unpack this one.
1 pizzashill 2018-05-24
Sports in the US have been used as a political platform for as long as they've been a thing.
But for some reason this was different, because it triggered old white people.
1 whataboutThe_Donald 2018-05-24
What about the private enterprise argument? Twitter, Reddit, whoever, bans speech they find offensive the left says they can because it's a private enterprise. These are litteraly speech platforms we're talking about.
Aren't sports such as the NBA and NFL also private enterprises? Shouldn't the logic be uniformly applied?
1 pizzashill 2018-05-24
You can say sports are, but they've been intertwined with politics for years.
Not to mention these sports leagues are heavily subsidized by the taxpayer, with many states funneling money to them to build stadiums etc.

These are the gymnastics I was looking for. Thank you.

The only argument is they were losing money so they blinked.
1 pizzashill 2018-05-24
Losing money due to triggered old white people.
1 Chicup 2018-05-24
You mean the people with money who actually watch football.
1 pizzashill 2018-05-24
Football is pretty evenly split in the population, actually.

So you are saying all white democrats were fine with the kneeling? Get a clue pizza, not everything is red blue.
1 pizzashill 2018-05-24
If we based our actions on what old white people thought, the civil rights movement would have never been a thing.

I don't really give a shit what the NFL does, but I find it amusing that the people who are cheering this on are the same people who think there shouldn't be any consequences for their expression or political opinions.
People like Paul Joseph Watson and Dave Rubin are cheering this on but are the first to blow a gasket when some conservative YouTuber with 15,000 subscribers gets banned on Twitter for repeatedly calling people faggots or sending unsolicited porn to people.

It's peak westcoast time so all kinds of retards are getting upset about my comments. This is a non issue for me, I was simply goading pizza asking why there wasn't consistency in the argument. I don't give a shit. I went to several games last year and seated in the stadium nobody gives a fuck or is looking around to see what other people are doing, the game hasnt even started at that point. On tv, because it's ratings, they'll zoom in on the 3 guys kneeling and then ask 14 different experts to share a dumb opinion. It's not the end of the 1st amendment or dishonoring veterans or crushing free speech or anything but retarded manufactured outrage.
Good for drama tho.
1 newcomer_ts 2018-05-24
People you list are just the other side of a hypocritical coin.
And a very bad example to use in this argument let alone the sub.
1 -Mopsus- 2018-05-24
How are they a bad example? They are exactly the type of people who actually gave a shit that a few black dudes were kneeling on a football field.
1 WeWuzKANG5 2018-05-24
Damn, that dodge.
1 Gtyyler 2018-05-24
It's okay, none of these people actually watch handegg. They pretend to care because kaepernick was """woke""". If it was some mayo quarterback kneeling for South Africa they would call him a nazi. Their concept of liberty depends on how much they agree with them.
