I just did a 1-Proportion Z test to see if the proportion of mass shootings committed by white people (56/97, source) is statistically significantly different from the proportion of non-Latino/Hispanic white people (0.613). It's not. Not even close. In other words, about just as many mass shootings are committed by white people as you would expect. The same is true for black people, native Americans, and Asians. Interestingly, I found that Latinos commit a statistically significantly fewer mass shootings than you would expect (p = 0.003). That may be due to the fact that some of the shooters were listed as other or unknown. Although, it is worth mentioning that the stats I found for the proportion of Americans of each race were from Wikipedia and added up to more than 100%, so take this with a grain of salt, but if we assume that they're all approximately accurate, then we can say that basically, shootings are distributed about how you would expect them to be -- it's not just a white people thing.

Sorry, I would've used a chi squared test, but I wasn't really sure what to do with the other and unknown categories.
