Personally I prefer drama when it's about something really stupid.

It's a dog ...

9,000 years of co-operative evolution. It doesn't need fucking boots

/u/CornyHoosier couldn't you make the same argument about any organism? Like humans for example?

Our feet and legs are different than pretty much every other animal. Even our close ancestors in the primate family are different

What does that have to do with anything? We still didn’t evolve to wear shoes, and yet most of us still do.

Kenyans win marathons without wearing shoes.

You mom jerks dudes off for money without wearing shoes

We've all got our side hustles.

I respect her entrepreneurial spirit.

There was some study or report or something about long distance runners from Kenya (or some part of Africa) who run without shoes and how that makes them better at it. Totally spacing out on it but I recall them talking about how your feet work better without shoes.

Unless you're working in an environment in which your feet might get destroyed you're probably better off without shoes, they're just another accessory.

They add extra cushioning changing people's gait.

A quick google search indicates there isn't a definitive position on shoes vs barefoot but some studies have been done.

  • Ground contact time (in seconds) during barefoot running was significantly shorter than shod running (0.245 vs. 0.255).

  • Stride length (in meters) was significantly lower when barefoot running (2.19 vs. 2.34).

  • Stride frequency (in strides/minute) was significantly higher while barefoot (91.2 vs. 86.0). As a consequence, step time was significantly lower as compared to shod.

  • Lower contact and flight time

  • Lower passive peak force

  • Higher braking and pushing impulses

  • Higher pre-activation of calf muscles

There is a lot of money in making running shoes appear effective.

After looking up that info, and reading posts here, it occurred to me that this is all a moot point. Most of us are Americans and Americans at fatties ergo all this talk of exercise is ridiculous!

Please don't try to interact with lifeforms from Indiana

I wish dogs had things on their paws to protect them from the rough terrain. Maybe pads! They could be tough pieces of tissue on the paw specifically for this purpose that developed over millions of years.

Has anybody ever heard of this?

Millions of years in a broken glass and rusty nail free environment tho.

Rainboots are different than wearing boots for hot pavement.

White people were a mistake.
