From about 2012 I think, Michfest attendees who wanted to keep the festival women-born-women only and have a more robust policy about excluding transwomen (b/c quite a few still went, disrespecting the wbw only policy) started to wear red.

However, this was seen as quite divisive and aggressive by a lot of the more can't-we-all-just-be-nice-and-get-along type attendees. Others started to wear shirts saying things like 'trans women belong here' (maybe there was also a different colour for pro-trans inclusion? I can't remember)
