Anita literally: BOO! My vidjya I mean movies, stop with the [insert buzzword] it's [inset year]
I literally Googled her review for ghostbusters and this is what she said
But while plenty of people were decrying the film’s very existence for somehow retroactively ruining their childhoods simply by suggesting that women could also be professional paranormal investigators and eliminators, there were also many of us who were thrilled to see even the suggestion of this kind of reimagining.
And now for her views when a woman gets altered to be a black woman in a reboot
I just screamed NO at the top of my lungs. WHY. NO. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS. I'd be here for a show based in the same universe & lore, say for instance around Fray (the comic), but Buffy comes from a very specific moment in media history, especially feminist media history. I'm afraid no matter how talented the folks involved are, it wouldn't live up to it
I wouldn't care or not, I just wish they'd stop rebooting franchises with 'remember X?! Well X is now a woman, black, aren't we so progressive?!' etc.
Theres loads of room for a stylish, enigmatic black British spy thriller, its just very unimaginative and pandering to shallow nostalgia to do it with Bond.
Why not make a black-British spy thriller in post-colonial Africa (or present) where he's a British agent against the Soviets/Chinese?
I don't really see a problem with a black bond. We've moved past the original novels for ages (and the decades and political landscape they took place in) and had loads of different bonds. As long as they don't try to remake the older ones.
There's nothing inherently wrong with the concept - its just boring and derivative. I'm bored of reboots/sequels/nostalgia-fuelled cash-ins (I'm looking at you comic book movies). I want new and original things, REEEEEE
If it's new and original you want I feel like you're looking in the wrong place if you are looking at Bond movies. 26 movies of essentially the same thing with suave, womanizing, super spy with gadgets hooking up with model, friend zoning secretary and thwarting super villain.
The details aren't evident in the linked Sarkesian tweet, but they're in the deadline article if anyone cares. It's still in development phase, but they do intend it to feature a black lead.
the diversity in the show’s description reflects the producers’ intention for the new slayer to be African American.
Whedon will "executive produce", which generally means his name is attached but his involvement will be negligible.
It is unclear whether Whedon will have any other role on the series due to his many other commitments
They do not mention his personal controversies at all, which is notable since most of his indiscretions occurred within the sphere of the original series.
I guess I was only half paying attention to all that shit at the time, what exactly did he do while show running that is super controversial? All I've heard about is that he cheated on his wife or something. Was that with one of the cast members? Or one of the writers? Was there anything more to it or just that?
what exactly did he do while show running that is super controversial?
Allegedly he was fucking many of the young actresses that got roles in the show and used his position to pressure them into fucking him (it was probably a casting couch situation where they were cast in return for sex).
I believe it was multiple women involved in the show over the course of the 5+ years. I honestly don't know specifics as I wouldn't recognize names anyway. I did see a Reddit comment that suggested that one female character was given less screen time after their alleged affair ended. My interest is mainly in how it was portrayed in the sphere of outrage. At first, it was psychological/emotional abuse of his wife, but as that standard can backfire against any woman who's engaged in infidelities -- cough * Zoe Quinn * cough -- they rebranded it as an issue of him taking advantage of young, impressionable women trying to break into the industry. His tendency to build his works around young, petite spitfires like Buffy creates really bad optics going forward from this. As an example, his development of a live-action Batgirl movie for the DC universe was shelved shortly after his wife posted her accusations.
You and your little "drama" buddies are too busy staring at men's bussies to know an attractive woman if she swam up to you in anthropomorphic-shark form and let you fuck her on a cold, windy cape cod beach.

I wonder what she thinks about Idris Elba playing Bond...
Who am I kidding, it's a man, who cares.

Bond fanatic here. As long as it's a British male, and he can play a suave secret agent, I'm down. I personally think Elba would be a great Bond.

I'd be happy if it was Larry the cable guy playing bond.

The fact that this isn’t a thing shows that Hollywood really hates trump voters.

Your comparison is shit and misses the point entirely.

She’s not complaining BECAUSE they hired a black woman though
3 LemonScore_ 2018-07-21
Seems like she's upset that Buffy is getting a reboot at all, not that it'd because it's starring a black woman.

Anita, as always, is completely right. Leave Buffy alone.

Hell yeah. I can't wait to see Laqueisha Buffy check these white privileged demons.

Feminist turned sex abuser Joss Whedon is attacked by feminist turned con artist Anita Sarkeesian. This is amazing.
9 VidiotGamer 2018-07-21
I'm pretty sure Velveeta was a con-artist turned feminist con-artist.
Her first forays into earning cash with no effort were putting together videos for some kind of multi-level marketing scheme.
2 JazzlikeInfluence 2018-07-21
Velveeta Sarcheesian.
