Oh those were the days. Different times, there was no “Google Podcasts” app for Android phones, oh back in my day we had to use Stitcher. And of course we had never heard of such a thing as “The Handmaid’s Tale”, no sir. We just had Game of Thrones to watch through the long nights. Simpler times, 2016. Simpler times.
Even back in the spring of '16, it was a common occurrence to see people flipping off the trump tower in manhattan. my friend actually used a picture of both of our middle fingers pointed to the trump tower as part of his final project for a photography class he was taking, and when we went to walgreens to get it printed out, the workers told him that everyone really enjoyed that picture.

It's common for me to commute to work and not know the language being spoken next to me, I freaking love it. The diversity is amazing.
I don't even know what to say to this. I mean, even if you are in that camp, that sounds kind of deranged. "I love being surrounded by people I can't even understand!"
As a person who lives in dc this couldn't be further from the truth most people here speak english or atleast broken English. What this guy is probably referring to is when occasionally you will see some people likely recent immigrants, tourists, or close friends talking to eachothers in a different language. But the vast majority of people atleast 90% in my experience (this is based on my experience but idk) speak English fluently. The rest usually know basic English atleast. Yes this city is diverse but its a metropolitan city and the countries capital which means people from all over have to live and work here. No one really cares since no one gives a shit about the diversity.
I kind of know what they mean, I just don't see how that in of itself is a good thing. It seems like if you're really about diversity and multiculturalism you should want to understand other cultures, not just immerse yourself in some vague soup of exotique.
Though, if anyone decides to come visit our great little neck of the woods, hit me up and I'll give some tips. Despite our current tenant on Penn Ave, we're a lively and passionate city, and welcome folks of all backgrounds. It's common for me to commute to work and not know the language being spoken next to me, I freaking love it. The diversity is amazing. <3 Stay strong America.

Edit to add: I conveniently work near the DOJ. I've flipped off the KKKeebler Elf when I see him leaving the building every once and a while. Y'all should visit and we'll flip them off together! Also try our Mexican and Halal food, it's pretty damn good.

The places I've been to here in DC are small mom and pop shops, made and served by local Hispanics. :) Though there is a Jose Andres place called Oyamel which is also really good.
