My Weird Life

Hey guys,

I'm going to be a college senior in the fall of 2018 and I feel that I need a car. I am currently working three part time jobs that all pay below minimum wage. (MONEY IS MONEY!!) I went on yet another job interview today and I was looking for something that pays what all three of my other part times equal out to and I found it!! But this job is way further in distance than all my other jobs though and using public transportation would be a B****. (side note: I don't have a car) So, I've been saving up for a while now and I think it would be a great decision (if this new job works out) to buy a car. What do you guys think? I asked my boyfriend and my sister what their opinions were and they didn't like the idea?... Personally, I think my sister just doesn't want to see me grow up and my boyfriend is just scared and doesn't want me to get hurt while driving. Let me know your thoughts guys!!!! I think it might be necessary?

I also hate having to feel dependent on my mom, Ubers, and even public transportation to give me rides..

Just wanted to end the post by saying thanks for making it his far and also, plz no hate. Thanks!!!

I think it depends on the timetable to pay-off the car vs. how long you can truly guarantee your employment for.

It depends a on what your budget for said car is and what sort of position you would be if this new job falls through. With that, if we're talking craigslist beater territory do you know anything about cars and have the resources to keep your hooptie on the road, registered and insured? If you're buying cheap don't buy German.

This. Don't get a super cheap car that is gonna break in a month but also dont go overboard and get more than what you need. My recommendation is find a car you like OP, shop around for prices and when you are ready to make a purchase go to a mechanic and pay him to go with you to check the car for any funny businesses, you don't wanna get a lemon.

Find an old person selling a car that's 12-15 yrs old. Make sure they're the only ones to have owned it and make sure it hasn't been in any major accidents. My 1st 2 cars were bought this way. I got each for $1000. One had 70k miles on it and the other had 90k

I agree. A see people around my age buying brand new cars, i swear is one of the dumbest things you can do when you are just starting out. I think people get a real job for the first time and they suddenly think they are rich and end up buying shit they shouldn't have like an expensive car.

Correct. Old people take care of cars, and unless you have a Porche, your social standing or vagina-wetting abilities won't be affected by your ride.

My 1st car was an 87 xj6 with 90k miles on it. The paint, leather interior, everything was in great condition. The only downside was that it guzzled gas and it had to take premium

If you are getting a new job that pays what your other 3 jobs payed together chances are the new job is gonna look way better on your resume.

Aside from that my advice is this. Sit down and see what your earn before and count your transportation cost. Compare that to your new wages and your new (your own car) transportation cost. See what the difference is and see if its suits you.

Overall i think you should take it, this new job could be a steeping stone to better jobs in the future.

Find someone you know who can ask the right questions about a car's condition. Sometimes a car that looks great externally has a ton of bad damage in the engine or wiring or tires, and will put you back way more money than what you spent to buy it.

If you're living in a major city the car may not be needed, more job opportunities will open that are transit-accessible, if not, then yeah you might have to go for a vehicle.

Also, there is hard evidence that anal sex is on average cleaner and safer than vaginal sex.

How do you work a job in USA that pays less than minimum wage? Are you a Central American? Are you a terrible drug dealer?
