r/turkey is a weird subreddit. They complain about racism in r/europe when it targets Turks, yet they spew hatred about arabs and kurds all the time. They also only give a fuck about european countries, reason why the pakistani guy is getting slaugthered over there. If a German, or a Dane posted a link about solidarity between their countries it would be better recieved
You're pretty much right on point. To the secular Turks(who mostly make up that sub) Erdogan is a massive step down and is ruining the country and is bringing them closer towards what they view as backward shitholes.
To people like Pakistanis, Indian and Bangladeshi muslims Erdogan is the next Muslim sultan/Savior.(check out the comments section of any Erdogan speech in YouTube, you will see comments mostly from Indian muslims, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis.)
Haha yeah I know about the youtube comment section thing. Its very cringy, but also a little sad, since many of these muslim people have lost hope in their own people and now wait for the turks to come save them
That's what happens when people become obsessed with the superiority of their race/religion etc...When the ground realities are so staggeringly different wrt to the prosperous west and even the far east(like Korea and Japan) they achingly wait for the day when Allah/the next sultan will lead them to glorious victory against the west and they get to finally show these arrogant Westerners their place.
In a way I feel bad for the Turks as well. They were once on the right path inching closer to Europe which a lot of seculars would've preferred.
Turks are basically the hapas of the Middle East/Levant. They have a big superiority complex about not being Arabs or being better than Arabs. Sometimes they like to cloak themselves in the glory of Rum or the Ottoman Empire, inheritors of the whole Hellenistic project, but they also hate Greeks and have some weird idea that the Ottoman Empire's greatness was somehow unique to Turks, instead of just a bastardized version of what came before.
You can see this interplay with how they look to the west, constantly vacillating between wanting to associate with the West to feel superior to the rest of the Middle East while also hating the West for being, well, the West.
Yes. I remember when the EU and Turkey was about to fullfill the refugee deal where Turks could travel visa free to EU countries, the users there were happy. When it failed many of the guys were like ''pshh, like we need that anyway''
Never call a turk an Arab. They absolutely hate it. And yeah the ones we see in the uk are very secularised, consider themselves European, and hate erdogan and hate his voter base
The sub can get very autistic. It's also growing pretty quickly.
More liberal Turks are very scared of islamization and are terrified of anything related to it.
They also see Pakistan and other poor muslim countries as nightmare scenarios just over the horizon. Seeing Arabic script triggers me honestly.
Combine that with intense nationalism (which "kinda" used to be the counter to islamism), Serves syndrome and an inferiority complex, you have a very dramaprone people.
Turkish nationalism is weird, it's like the only popular antidote to Islamism left in Turkey but it comes with its own trail of bad habits (like denial of Armenian genocide, wanting to wipe out the Kurds, a tendency towards authoritarianism). Erdogan somehow manages to vacillate between Islamism and Nationalism and please both groups well enough that he's probably going to rule Turkey until he dies.
South Asian Islamic nations are new nations that don't exactly have the impressive history of these nations.
Their biggest claim to fame would be the Mughals whose famous rules had Turkic lineage.(though I am not really an expert on history). Hence their desperate attempt to appear Turk, Arab,etc....
Pakistanis especially. Everyone there seems to think they're descendant from the prophet or that they have Arab/Turkish/Iranian ancestry. They also reject anything to do with India.
Like they are so obviously mostly just Indian ethnicities that converted to Islam
Do they really think they had an ancestor that came over and conquered Turkey, then learned Punjabi and became indistinguishable from them? The Turks and Mongols were the upper class, there's no way they'd do that.
Pakis are the worst people on the planet. They are more vicious than Amerifats, more murderous than the krauts, more boring than the leafs, more perverted than the Japs, with worst teeth than the Limies, more bloodthirsty than the savages Somalians, more rapey than the street-shitters, more snobbish than the frogs, more stabby than the Albanians, ruder than the chicom, less trustworthy than the El-Salvadorians, and a greater danger to livestock than the Welsh.

Pakistanis need to get use to their inferiority and degenerativeness. This is what happens when your grandmother was a goat in a burka.

I'm no longer allowed to call for genocide thanks to the awful admins.

>implying these are bad things.
But seriously, it's not as black and white as the western media puts it.

/r/Turkey is extremely kemalist in its ideology, it's much more liberal, secular, and european oriented than the average Turk.

One thing I've noticed about South Asians is that they all want to LARP as Turks, Persians, and Arabs sooo badly.

Central Asian dynasty, but foreign rulers end up assimilated.

But clearly like 99% of the DNA is going to still be south asian.

For the royalty?
IIRC until Akbar who was the third Mughal sultan, they married Turks rather than Indians.

Pakistan shouldn't have been a country. Hopefully they and India get into a nuclear war and solve the issue once and for all.
