I’m not denying it doesn’t happen, but to assume all people who wear mascot costumes, or are furries, smoke crack and fuck all day in costume is a massive fallacy.
The three people they arrested are probably career criminals who have been stealing guns that end up being used in murders. The only legitimate reason to have sympathy for these people is if you believe that they are intrinsically inferior due to their race, which leaves them morally incapable of refraining from crime.
I don't see anything corroborating your claim, but
“The suspects saw a parked, unmarked trailer and then proceeded to cut open the safety seal and broke into the back of the trailer and only then did they find retail shoes in unmarked brown boxes, previously secured and hidden inside,” said Susan Terpay, a spokeswoman for Norfolk Southern.
OK, kill all journalists (in minecraft) except maybe the one who wrote this article.
The only legitimate reason to have sympathy for these people is if you believe that they are intrinsically inferior due to their race, which leaves them morally incapable of refraining from crime.
Or that they are not intrinsically inferior due to their race and capable of reforming.
Is it wrong to arrest thieves in order to encourage them to reform? Or should we just let them continue committing crimes in the hope that never experiencing any negative consequences somehow inspires them to reform?
In the hypothetical open truck full of shoes and black teenagers stealing them scenario that most definitely didn't happen, I raise my original objection: it's unclear if that shit minimizes the amount of stealing over time.
So if a cop in plain clothes gets mugged, its entrapment? You do understand what it means to mislead or persuade? A truck sitting there is doing neither.
no. the issue is it's a fucking waste of money and time to try to bait people into committing crimes instead of, y'know, catching people doing the crimes
edit: can't believe this is controverisal. fuck all yall mf bootlickers
What's with black people and their shoes? The companies employ sweatshop labor to make them for pennies and sell them for hundreds because they create false scarcity.
it's like a business plan dreamed up in econ 101 and it's highly ironic to hear them rail against slave labor while wearing shoes that basically a slave made.
The established business model of most running-shoe companies is to make a new 'model' of their shoes every year, occasionally introducing a new style/name, but usually they just make it version n+1. So you have these shoes that sell for $150 or whatever all year long and then in the late spring you can get them on clearance for like 50-60% of the price, because they have to make room for the new model, even though it's hardly any different than the old model, and sometimes functionally worse (e.g. they try to make it a teensy bit lighter by using material that wears down much faster). It's literally paying twice as much for a new color scheme most of the time.
It seems pretty retarded to get yourself locked into a 'new shoe every year' mindset when you end up having to throw away hundreds or thousands of the old model the next year for no good reason.
I'm sure they know it's wrong. I think if I were in the same situation, I have no/poor education, single parent, toxic community- where I have nothing and are nothing in society's term. I can imagine that I might be stealing stuff too. When you're born into that life, there's very little you can do to get ahead.
God I wish I could ping this guy. Imagine being such a wishy washy bitch that you believe poverty causes people to steal.
News flash! Most people, poor, black, whatever, aren't thieves. It's almost like these people are making their own choices, and a piece of shit is a piece of shit, rich or poor, black or white.
On one hand, if you're stealing a loaf of bread, I think it's a little more understandable if it's because it's the only immediately available way to not starve to death.
But as a centrist I can also see how if someone is employed (especially at jobs central to the smooth running of society) it could be a net loss to society to interrupt their life over a loaf of bread, in a way that might not be true for an unemployed person.
Fortunately it's all moot because I don't think these thieves would have died for lack of copping new kicks.
Racist conservative take: almost all crime is caused by a very small number of bad apples. If we can get them off the streets, the reduction in crime will make it safer to invest in this community, spurring a virtuous cycle in which better job opportunities lead to even lower levels of crime.
Enlightened liberal take: it's obvious to everyone that none of these niggers has the slightest inkling of civility or ethics, and that they would swarm zombie-like toward any stealable opportunity, with the twist being that the zomgroids probably started fighting each other one they realized that there were more of them then there were shoes.
Centrist take: the real injustice here is that the police used $25 running shoes, when Nike does market shoes so expensive that their theft is classified as a felony under Illinois law.
Not that I agree with Conservatives, but Liberals do seem more racist than them on average because of shit like this. I can't believe we are arguing against arresting people committing theft now. Unreal.
It's almost like their victim blaming the poor slut shoe company who should have known dressing slutty securing your truck with just a zip tie is just asking to be violated.
"No, you see it's racist for women to walk down the street in these neighborhoods seeing as how all these poors just can't keep themselves from raping. The cops are just being racist by parking cars near them since they can't control their stealing either. Anyone in society that parks a car anywhere near one of them is just a racist bigot"

Bait is proven to reduce crime, and it's not entrapment if law enforcement didn't attempt to persuade them that it's legal.
1 zergling_Lester 2018-08-25
Citation needed. I'd suspect that those kids end up more, not less likely to commit crime in the future, if given actual jail time.
1 911roofer 2018-08-25
They're already breaking into trucks and stealing shit. They're a lost cause.
1 zergling_Lester 2018-08-25
The punishment for theft shall be cutting off the right hand. The punishment for repeated theft shall be death.

The context is this statement by the MDEgenerate:
1 Dildokin 2018-08-25
No kids were arrested
1 cheers_grills 2018-08-25
They won't be stealing when in jail tho
1 zergling_Lester 2018-08-25
They aren't more likely to end up as productive members of society after a jail time either.
Anyways, it turns out that that was not an open truck, that was a sealed trailer and the men who were arrested were between the ages of 21 and 59:
Kill all liberal fake news peddling journalists (in minecraft) (in my humble opinion).
1 cheers_grills 2018-08-25
Sure, but if they either can steal or sit in jail and only steal after getting out, I'm choosing the 2nd option.

They shouldn't be; if they are given jail time that invalidates whatever I said and makes this and attempt to get money from jail convictions.
1 Mabans 2018-08-25
Entrapment is being into committing a crime you otherwise wouldn’t. Being like “hey lets break-in to that truck”.
1 pitterpatterwater 2018-08-25
Entrapment is only when the government tries to mislead or persuade people into commiting crimes. You example would be entrapment.
1 Mabans 2018-08-25
So if a cop in plain clothes gets mugged, its entrapment? You do understand what it means to mislead or persuade? A truck sitting there is doing neither.
1 pitterpatterwater 2018-08-25
Nope, only if the cop walks p to you and says that it isn't illegal if you mug him.
1 Mabans 2018-08-25
Then I’m an asshole for my misunderstanding. I agree.
1 pitterpatterwater 2018-08-25
No you're not, it's just a simple misunderstanding.

The shoe market really is insane tbh. I'm amazed it doesn't get more attention.
I remember seeing shoes marked down from like 150 dollars to 35 dollars and I was always so confused as to how that was possible.
Then I realized the mark up is through the fucking roof.
1 EviscerateTheProles 2018-08-25
You can see it with running shoes pretty easily.
The established business model of most running-shoe companies is to make a new 'model' of their shoes every year, occasionally introducing a new style/name, but usually they just make it version n+1. That's just how fashion works.
1 LightUmbra 2018-08-25
IIRC a $100ish pair of shoes cost like $25-30. It's still ludicrous but I wanted your outrage to be accurate
1 better_bot 2018-08-25
"I need those shoes because I'm starving n shit."
Also, think of the vast majority of poor blacks who walked by the truck and didn't break into it, because they're just poor and not trash.
1 xXsnip_ur_ballsXx 2018-08-25
The police were targeting specific criminals who were committing crimes in the area. This type of policing is good for the community.
1 LightUmbra 2018-08-25
The police in our area had a sting pawnshop running for a while. Some people got so salty about it.
