You are another culturally programmed millenial internet dude with this weird bitterness towards women. One female accuses a guy of mansplaining incorrectly and you come here to “delight” in her downfall. The culture is sick and it makes me sad.
I can't say that their take on the article is wrong. It is written from the POV of a single woman. Of course being single is more expensive if you aren't going to live low cost lifestyle and you don't have someone else to help cover the costs.
It was obviously written by a woman, and based on the fact the in a couple bills would be split. In reality we all know this doesn’t happen, the woman nearly always contributes less, and often nothing towards bills. Yes I’m 100% sure a woman in a relationship is financially better off. I’m also 100% certain that I’m financially better off whilst single.
Classic Inceldom:
When a women offers to split the bill: Stupid bitch! You career driven women are feminist harpies ruining this country!
When a women offers to let the man pay: Stupid bitch! You stay at home women are just money sucking harpies!
Imagine getting this worked up over which gender should be pay on the first day. This is why I choose busy.

Why pursue women and risk making them feel good?

This is pretty fucking retarded for someone claiming to be a financial journalist.
You pay less premiums because you have less accidents in this position, not because you're suddenly a better driver.
We can speculate and assume that's probably because you drive more carefully with the wife and two kids.

Wait, is 0 > 0 now? Did I miss something like, super-important?

Huh?
Married people have less car accidents than single incels, that's all.

It is the Guardian, so journalism or good writing isn't too be expected.

Not to mention if a woman offers to pay the whole bill: Stupid thot thinks I'm poor and can't pay for myself. Who does she think she is?
