I didn't recognize the name cause I don't pay attention to whore drama. They say they have evidence so let's see it. Decent chance it's nothing but Dems trying to stall until the midterm elections.
I really have no idea what to think. On the one hand, I thought the initial accusations were flimsy at best and more than anything, required some proof... But now there are all these wild claims coming out. Drunken train running parties in college, gang rape, and more? Is Brett Kavanaugh about to be the frattiest SC judge in history?
I'm disappointed that people stopped talking about K's shady money and email stuff, but I'm finding it hilarious the depths that Rs will go to defend shit.
That’s the best part. Matt Schlapp just tweeted how if he kept a high school diary and someone had it, he’d be offering then expensive cars or a yacht to keep quiet. Is this somehow a defense??? “When I was a teen, I fantasized and would’ve wrote about such creepy shit a Lamborghini would have to be the bribe. We’re all fucked up in high school, no biggie!”
lmao yeah bud, me making fun of Schlapp's awful defense makes me a hardcore Democrat. You should also point out the Beto O'Rourke vid I posted! HARDCORE DEMOCRAT ALERT.
We can support different people in different races. One comment doesn't make someone hardcore one side or the other, but apparently that is utterly lost as a point in today's American society. It's just Democrat or Republican, nothing else right?
The Avenatti stuff is BS, full stop. If you go to CNN's site, there's nothing there about it. Nor on Drudge. I suspect their legal teams warned them about libel, because the $ value on "Judge masterminds drugged gangrapes" is tremendous.
I have no dog in this race but I think it's a bit far to say that it's absolutely BS. Avenatti also has (something of) a reputation to consider. If he starts throwing out wild, nationally dramatic claims like this hoping they'll just fade away, especially after accusing Trump of the same, he's insane. Also, seeing as he seems to be angling towards a run at politics, these are the kind of ridiculous moves that can hamstring a campaign.
Or not, who even knows what works in politics anymore. Everything has literally become a version of "feels, not reals" for both sides.
You don't think someone somewhere can be found who will make an accusation against her, one kept secret until the hearings are over to cause maximal damage?
Could go either way. If you're unlucky, he will get voted in anyway, and democrats have nothing to show for their efforts besides some lost credibility.
It is obviously insane. Nothing you say there changes that. Saying, 'it would be stupid to do this!' isn't much of an argument given that people do balls-out retarded shit every day, and many of them have more to lose than this guy.
This is like saying, 'Bill Cosby never raped anyone, that's retarded. He could have hired a hooker to take a roofie and do that with', which sounds logical until you realize that human beings are complete fucking retards.
Avenatti has made these sort of claims before but has then backed them up with evidence. I was basing what I said partially off of historical behavior. If this was a lunatic off the street, I'd lend it no credence.
It’s clear that he’s going for maximum political impact.
The media are being careful to call them unconfirmed allegations, because that’s what they are.
I agree he should put up or shut up, but here’s the thing. I doubt Avenatti is stupid - he must understand the size of the bullseye he’s just painted on his own forehead. Why would he do that if he has nothing? As I said, if this turns out to be baseless, he’s going to be sued for the literal shirt off his back.
Who needs bullets and guns when you have sluts and can pay them cash to say retarded shit with the caveat that "My client can't recall any details because this slut poor innocent liberal professor citizen was at a BAC that a coroner sees on a regular basis.
I still can't fathom why the fuck everything is taking so long to come out. Aventatti better fucking deliver this evidence before Thursday. The Republicans have already bought the goddamn champagne to celebrate Kavanaugh's nomination and he's over here dragging his feet promising evidence in "the coming days". Just fucking drop it already.
Thatll be the day. The dems have to defend over 24 seats this cycle, the GOP has to defend 8, many of the democratic seats are in states Trump carried in the election and historically an incoming presidents first midterm election is favorable for them. Its hardly impossible that the GOP winds up with a filabuster-proof Senate for the next 2 years.
Not to mention that the democrats have only won two special elections since Trump took office, and the republicans they ran or should have run against were taken out by scandals. Even with the scandal AL almost sent Barney Fife's creepy uncle to the senate, and the guy in PA-18 basically ran as a republican himself with a pro-2nd Amendment/anti-Nancy Pelosi campaign.
I don't know what to say if Avenatti piling on here is what gets you to believe. Like, what the fuck?
I'll just quote myself somewhere else:
The only good outcome of this is against all odds Kavanaugh is dirty as fuck and all the allegations are true. If not this is the beginning of the end for functional politics in this country. Even if they push the nomination through, the crazy shenanigans that have gone on here have done irreparable damage, for everyone.
It's amazing that the same people who constantly complain about trivializing rape accusations, are the people most eager to trivialize rape accusations by making them political cudgels.
I understand it would require a lot of courage is come out as a victim of sexual abuse, and it would be quite disheartening to see that person may be serving in the Supreme Court.
But come on, the timing just seems too good for me. They better come out with evidences if they don't want the whole thing become the crying wolf game.
Why is the timing too good? Of course coming out about it now is because of the nomination, nobody claimed it was a coincidence. Doesn't mean it's fake, just means they could put it behind them until their rapist was pushed into the national spotlight again and they don't want him on the SC.
If this guy isn't another crooked lawyer working for Trump, he's just as bad. It's like how McCarthy pretended to be against commies but was their best agent in America.
How is it that the tankie subs are protected from being banned? It would be best for the 2016 elections and the future of democracy in this country if the self-serving lawyer class 😉😉😉 was liquidated.
Isn't this, like, an integral part of the US frat culture? The entire government is composed of Ivy Leaguers who did this. It's the only reason to attend these places. This is what anyone means when they say "networking in college". And the gussy is fully complicit to this. Why is nobody talking about the TIGER FUCKING MOMBEAST GROOMING INTERNS FOR KAVANAUGH?!
Can an Independent American answer something for me?
As an outsider, it's so obvious these are clearly political attacks. Do centrists Americans not see this? Obviously the /r/politics types will buy anything, but so actual working Americans believe this shit?
You have to understand that there are millions of Americans who only get their news from the main TV news outlets, who carry water for partisan causes. So yeah, it's totally possible to fool enough people for this sort of thing to work.
I was trying to get up to speed on this whole mess and saw Vox had something like 6-10 articles up about Kavanaugh all within a couple of hours of one another today. I was there to read some other god awful pile of shit that rag had written since it was such an absurd accusation and saw all of their Kavanaugh stuff in the related section.
Like, the fact these allegations were sat on is disgusting in of itself. Until we get evidence and not "X also says he did this, but then retracts statement a month later", I'm just going to ignore this whole debacle.
The political shenanigans tied into it really suck, because if the allegations end up being true I'm going to feel like the biggest asshole for doubting them. I really wish Democrats would get their shit together and at least try to appear like a responsible opposition party.
Not being snarky, just interested to know when an accusation specifically made before a major vote/political event has ever been proven as true via due process?
A frat guy sexually assaulting some girl is much more fucking believable than Hilary Clinton and the Democrats eating babies a fucking kids every weekend. Or that her and Obama control every aspect of the government from behind the scenes.
Yeah the frat guy rapist stereotype is way overblown. Girls threw themselves at frat guys where I went to school, so it's not like they have to go around raping. You're more likely to be raped by the male feminist down the hall.
The precedent it would set to drop kavanaugh would be so fucked up, republicans have to realize if they give in to this bullshit, every nomination for the rest of trump's presidency is going to be accused of sexual assault.
Kavanaugh was actually the moderate pick. They could have went with a hard-right nom, and probably will in future since this is what happened when they tried to play ball with Democrats.
They didn't try to play ball even a little bit, they tried to shove him in like SCOTUS was a drunk girl at a Kavanaugh party
He also isn't even close to moderate, his views on executive authority abortion and about every other issue that was covered before the allegations happened are comically right wing
“Think of Justice Scalia, who’s certainly a known character. The vote was unanimous,” Ginsburg said.
“That’s the way it should be, instead of what it’s become, which is a highly partisan show. The Republicans move in lockstep, and so do the Democrats. I wish I could wave a magic wand and have it go back.”
Sure doesn't sound like she thinks Kavanaugh should be torn to pieces because his views on some matters are different.
Sorry, the game changed when Republicans refused to even schedule a hearing for Garland. Can't unfuck that goat. And even not considering that, Kavanaugh was nominated only a month and a half ago. That is a pretty short time for a modern Supreme Court nomination. It isn't crazy at all that the vote hasn't happened yet. Most of the time nominees are actually fully vetted then voted on, not shoved through as fast as possible.
Sorry, the game changed when Republicans refused to even schedule a hearing for Garland.
"The game" changed long before that. Used to be a president would nominate someone, the FBI would investigate them and issue a report, and the senate would interview them in a hearing, then they'd get confirmed. Then Robert Bork happened. Then Clarence Thomas happened. Who was responsible for adding the word "Bork" to the lexicon? Who tried to blow a bullshit story about a qualified African-American nominee sound like a date rapist? HINT: It wasn't republicans.
Every time a change has been made to the process of appointing judges, it was democrats that made the change. The democrats filibustered nominees under Bush. The republicans let them, and then when they became the minority the republicans started filibustering nominees. Couldn't have that, so Harry Reid killed the filibuster. Then Reid changed the rules so that judges would be confirmed with a simple majority vote. That came back to bite them in the ass when republicans took control of the senate again and Trump won the White House, because McConnell was more than happy to keep the filibuster dead and extend the simple majority vote to all nominees, even those for the Supreme Court.
The only reason these appointments are so important to democrats is that they need the courts to advance their agendas. They've only managed to pass one of their policy goals legitimately through the legislature in my lifetime, and that was the PPACA under President Obama. Every other major policy victory democrats have won was handed to them by the courts. Abortion: No one will vote for it, but the courts gave it to them. Gay Marriage: No one will vote for it, but the courts gave it to them. Name any other policy the democrats have successfully implemented, and it either came through the courts or the bureaucracy.
If the courts simply ruled on the law as written and didn't legislate from the bench no one would care who was on the Supreme Court. Unfortunately, democrats have realized too late that everything they did through the courts can also be undone through the courts. Now they're panicked because they've gone so far to the left that moderates won't support them and they keep losing elections to republicans. If democrats had respected the process and the rules put in place to protect everyone's interest they wouldn't find themselves in this position. Instead, they've taken an ends-justify-the-means approach for the last few decades that has left them in their current predicament, and they're still doubling down. You reap what you sow.
The more outlandish the claim, the more likely it is that it's just a lie designed to make you shut off your critical thinking faculties and let out some kind of guttueral scream.
Real crimes are simple things, with simple motives. Accusations of real crimes don't sound like this.

I don't know what to say if Avenatti piling on here is what gets you to believe. Like, what the fuck?
I'll just quote myself somewhere else:

Probably?

It's amazing that the same people who constantly complain about trivializing rape accusations, are the people most eager to trivialize rape accusations by making them political cudgels.

I understand it would require a lot of courage is come out as a victim of sexual abuse, and it would be quite disheartening to see that person may be serving in the Supreme Court.
But come on, the timing just seems too good for me. They better come out with evidences if they don't want the whole thing become the crying wolf game.
1 colonel-o-popcorn 2018-09-24
Why is the timing too good? Of course coming out about it now is because of the nomination, nobody claimed it was a coincidence. Doesn't mean it's fake, just means they could put it behind them until their rapist was pushed into the national spotlight again and they don't want him on the SC.
1 ThatDamnedImp 2018-09-24
It means we can't take it seriously. And no other crime, under any other circumstances, would be.
1 colonel-o-popcorn 2018-09-24
What. Why does it mean that? Just have an investigation and if it's BS it's BS. Just because it's good for Dems doesn't make it fake.
1 trilateral1 2018-09-24
what is there to investigate after 35 years?
it's a stalling tactic, nothing else.
1 shitpersonality 2018-09-24
If only Jared Fogle was nominated to be on the Supreme Court...
1 Redactor0 2018-09-24
If this guy isn't another crooked lawyer working for Trump, he's just as bad. It's like how McCarthy pretended to be against commies but was their best agent in America.
How is it that the tankie subs are protected from being banned? It would be best for the 2016 elections and the future of democracy in this country if the self-serving lawyer class 😉😉😉 was liquidated.
1 grungebot5000 2018-09-24
what would they be banned for tho
1 hoseja 2018-09-24

1 Zeriell 2018-09-24
You have to understand that there are millions of Americans who only get their news from the main TV news outlets, who carry water for partisan causes. So yeah, it's totally possible to fool enough people for this sort of thing to work.
1 SuperLemonz 2018-09-24
I was trying to get up to speed on this whole mess and saw Vox had something like 6-10 articles up about Kavanaugh all within a couple of hours of one another today. I was there to read some other god awful pile of shit that rag had written since it was such an absurd accusation and saw all of their Kavanaugh stuff in the related section.
Like, the fact these allegations were sat on is disgusting in of itself. Until we get evidence and not "X also says he did this, but then retracts statement a month later", I'm just going to ignore this whole debacle.
1 Zeriell 2018-09-24
The political shenanigans tied into it really suck, because if the allegations end up being true I'm going to feel like the biggest asshole for doubting them. I really wish Democrats would get their shit together and at least try to appear like a responsible opposition party.
1 CherryKirsche 2018-09-24
Except that the named friend of Kavanaugh just confirmed the story
1 CherryKirsche 2018-09-24
I mean, how do you know that they are "obvious clearl political attacks"? Now the ex girlfriend of the other guy accused came forward and confirmed that he had told her the same sotry
1 Thatlookedlikeithurt 2018-09-24
So that’s creepy porn lawyer’s ball game? An ex girlfriend? Jesus Christ.
1 CherryKirsche 2018-09-24
Nope, the ex girlfriend the guy who was as well accussed.
1 howtobased 2018-09-24
The accuser waited 40 years until right before his confirmation.
1 CherryKirsche 2018-09-24
Not like the first time this ever has happened and were it turned out to be true
1 howtobased 2018-09-24
Please provide a source for this statement.

How can you be so fucking retarded as to not see it?
You can't be that retarded. So you have to be a liar. That's the only logical answer here.
1 The_runnerup913 2018-09-24
A frat guy sexually assaulting some girl is much more fucking believable than Hilary Clinton and the Democrats eating babies a fucking kids every weekend. Or that her and Obama control every aspect of the government from behind the scenes.
1 AwanBros 2018-09-24
No one said she does that every weekend

i went to college and wasn't raped by frat boys :/
did you go to college?
1 grungebot5000 2018-09-24
yeah, seems like everyone got raped there at least once.
you must have gone to a pretty boring college tbh
1 trilateral1 2018-09-24
everyone at your college was raped at least once?
that might help explain the psychological state of the US.
are you sure you're not confusing drunk sex with rape?
1 grungebot5000 2018-09-24
yeah but the aggressors were usually drunk
1 lonestarhandy 2018-09-24
Yeah the frat guy rapist stereotype is way overblown. Girls threw themselves at frat guys where I went to school, so it's not like they have to go around raping. You're more likely to be raped by the male feminist down the hall.
1 MildlyCat 2018-09-24
Outside Reddit/twitter, no, most people don't think it's credible.
But they're also going to work and raising kids and everyone has that one pussyhat at the office that you try to avoid.
1 unrulyfarmhand 2018-09-24
The precedent it would set to drop kavanaugh would be so fucked up, republicans have to realize if they give in to this bullshit, every nomination for the rest of trump's presidency is going to be accused of sexual assault.
1 jubbergun 2018-09-24
1 JamesRobotoMD 2018-09-24
Be Republicans
Nominate drunken frat boy because Federalist Society
Parade hundreds of women around saying he not a creep because that is normal thing to do for a normal guy you are nominating.
Other women say he and all his drunken frat boy friends are actually creeps
DEMOCRAAAATS!!! 😤😡😠
1 Zeriell 2018-09-24
Kavanaugh was actually the moderate pick. They could have went with a hard-right nom, and probably will in future since this is what happened when they tried to play ball with Democrats.
1 Matthew94 2018-09-24
mfw
1 colonel-o-popcorn 2018-09-24
The spin levels are off the charts
They didn't try to play ball even a little bit, they tried to shove him in like SCOTUS was a drunk girl at a Kavanaugh party
He also isn't even close to moderate, his views on executive authority abortion and about every other issue that was covered before the allegations happened are comically right wing
1 Zeriell 2018-09-24
While their positions are sometimes interpreted that way, the supreme court is not supposed to be a partisan position. Note that Ginsberg thought the proceedings for Kavanaugh were highly unusual.
Sure doesn't sound like she thinks Kavanaugh should be torn to pieces because his views on some matters are different.
1 colonel-o-popcorn 2018-09-24
Sorry, the game changed when Republicans refused to even schedule a hearing for Garland. Can't unfuck that goat. And even not considering that, Kavanaugh was nominated only a month and a half ago. That is a pretty short time for a modern Supreme Court nomination. It isn't crazy at all that the vote hasn't happened yet. Most of the time nominees are actually fully vetted then voted on, not shoved through as fast as possible.
1 jubbergun 2018-09-24
