In his tweet, he acknowledged the meme likely wasn’t real, saying: “Pretty scary that there is a distinct possibility this could be real. Not likely, but in this day and age of absolute liberal insanity, it is at least possible ...”
So, posting some meme and saying "This is probably fake", is lit interfering with our democracy. Or something.
the funny thing about this is James Woods sued a random twitter user for $10 million for joking that he was addicted to coke. The anonymous twitter user died during the lawsuit and Woods kept pursuing his estate and trying to get his identity made public.
Then Woods got sued for posting a photo of a woman and labeling her Nazi. He claimed that the lawsuit was an infringement on his free speech.
James Woods doesn't give a fuck about free speech. He's just a dumb fucking boomer with a stick up his ass who virtue signals to all his conservative followers about free speech.
Yeah, I don't actually like Woods either. Most of his tweets are just grade-A cringe, but at the same time looking at what he got suspended for posting... its pretty fucking weak as a justification.
Literally just look up the definition of free speech. Anyone who believes "free speech = first amendment" should unironically have their high school diploma revoked.
This is like the hundredth time this shit has come up here, but no interpretation of freedom of speech in the US has ever meant a company is required to pay to host your dumb shit on their servers. Being a social media site or a conservative talking point doesn't change that.
That's great because nowhere did I bring up the Constitution. Also would you mind hosting a website saying that 'vtesterlwg is a fucking dumbass and under no circumstances should procreate' for me? Feeling extremely infringed right now.
On the one hand, they're doing him a favor. Everyone who gets banned from Twitter is just having their life improved.
On the other hand... I think companies are retarded for doing this, but there are plenty of them that nevertheless require you to use sites like Twitter as part of doing your job. Admittedly those people probably know how to stay out of the line of fire, but still, when a platform has become that pervasive, "they can just ban whoever for whatever reason" stats to make less sense.
Another idiot millennial who doesn't understand what freedom and speech mean. Yes their freedom of speech is infringed. Their first amendment rights are not infringed as Twitter is not the government but they are still removing his platform to speak.
"freedom and speech" means i can be retarded on twitter and the people who own it wouldnt be able to boot my dumb ass from their platform or else id throw a temper tantrum
If that's your definition of "freedom of speech", that has never been a right anybody has and it shouldn't be. If you walk into a coffee shop and start shouting ethnic slurs they're going to kick you out. If you start shit somewhere to the point where enough people around don't like you, those people are going to want you to leave. #TwitterDidNothingWrong
That's not my definition of freedom of speech. It's the literal definition of the words freedom and speech. Freedom of speech means one is free to speak without fear of being silenced. In the US, there is an expectation of one's freedom to speak without fear of governmental retaliation. When you go on private property and start spouting stupid offensive shit, it's not infringing on your first amendment rights when you get thrown out on your ass, but it is restricting your freedom of speech, definitionally.
At one point, Twitter would let just about anything go, but they've been restricting that precedent a lot recently, along with other social media groups, and they claim to be in favor of freedom of speech on the platform. Note not the first amendment but freedom of speech. If they claim to be for freedom of speech and then go about unfairly restricting speech, they have done something wrong. They've blatantly lied. Sure they have the right to do it, but they also have the responsibility not to.
The first amendment has zero to do with Twitter. You sound like some kind anti free market communist if you want big government to come down and force a private citizen to stop being such a meanie head and give back people’s Twitter privileges. I don’t expect you to have passed middle school to understand these fundamental basics of how the first amendment works so I’m not mad at you for talking out your ass. Fish gotta swim, ya know?
Conservative tears are the best because they throw tantrums about issues that clearly have no grasp on.
So wait am I a communist or a conservative here? I specifically said it didn't infringe the 1st amendment, so I don't really think you're getting my point, but you're a retard so I should have expected that. First amendment =/= freedom of speech. That was my whole point buddy. All that other shit you're attributing to me is your own crazy bullshit
An illusion crafted by Twitter Incorporated. Twitter claims to be a free open platform then goes and bans people for sharing memes they don't like and so far in this thread I've just heard a bunch of people REE at me about how it's within their rights to do that. At the very least it's false advertising
I see this sentiment and statement a lot and while fundamentally true I feel freedom of speech as virtue gets lost in it. Everyone seems to think freedom of speech should be a thing but nobody wants to respect that themselves. If no one embraces free speech as value and nobody embraces letting asshats run their mouths in their private spaces then that leaves us screaming at each other in the streets. And that just doesnt lead to anything productive.
One hand many people are like "social media companies are private business and can deplatform anyone they like" but then the exact same people are like "Twitter needs to ban bots/trolls, Facebook needs to be regulated for selling user data to people I don't like". Funny.
That’s kind of a hodge podge of a bunch of different concepts, and I don’t want to serious post here, so I’ll just let you know you’re a fucking retard.

James Woods is like an old, loser uncle who just sits on Facebook all day trying to argue with anyone no matter what just so he has something to say.
1 OtakuOlga 2018-09-24
No it isn't. That message James Woods received from "Twitter" asking him to click on a link and log in is the most textbook case of a phishing scam I have ever seen.
If James Woods got locked out of Twitter it's because he logged in to a fake site that stole his password and the phishers have changed it on him.
1 JabroniMark99 2018-09-24
lmao for real. Everyone on Twitter says blatant lies regardless of being democratic or republican.
