Hey I just wanted to personally reach out so we could talk about everything going on. I got your name from that crazy thread, so I hope you don't mind me reaching out.

I really do apologize if you believe I plagiarized and I really don't know what to say because you're right, the essay you're talking about sounds somewhat similar to the other essay. All I can do now is explain myself because I value this community and have always tried my best to be transparent with it and the people in it.

I wrote that essay when I was stressed and felt like it wasn't the best representation of myself. I'm now realizing it was probably because I subconsciously lifted phrases and mimicked structure. I did not submit it to any schools, but I was proud of it. I honestly felt like I authentically wrote it. And so when I chose not to post my actually common app essay (since it mentioned specific names in my life) I posted that one instead. That's what happened.

Stanford got a report about that essay being plagiarized, and so they investigated that essay as well as the actual one I submitted. Both were found innocent.

If you have any other questions or doubts, please let me know. I fucked up being so public with my application. I've gotten sexual threats, personal critiques, and other bad stuff any college freshmen shouldn't need to deal with especially when they're trying to reconcile low stats and feeling like they belong at a prestigious school. I want to put it all to rest. Please help me sort out it all here, because my mental health is really suffering.
