The people involved here probably don't even respect bussy all that much.

God what an excellent viral marketing campaign. All the retards using this as ammo for their politics while everyone ignores the horrible casting choice as Henry Cavill as Geralt.

Henry Cavill as Geralt

Real question: I don't really care about the show at all, but why is Henry Cavill a bad cast?

He's a standard pretty boy when Geralt is a grizzled old rough looking guy. Maybe Hollywood magic would change that though.

Fair enough

True but, Henry Cavill does have acting chops when he’s got a good script on his side. I think he can manage playing a gruff older character despite his sort of pretty boy background.

Beards do wonders

You'd think if someone hated video games and their adaptations so much, then they just wouldn't watch it. But then again, that's the entirety of ghazi--people who really, really need you to know how much they hate video games. What a strange hobby to have.

They think if they don't tell you for the 30th time how toxic and gross and icky gamers are, they'll take over the world by calling people faggots online

It's funny because ghazi was supposed to be the "gamers against gamergate" subreddit and nowdays there's 10% chance any given user has played a video game in the past week.

10% chance any given user has played a video game in the past week.

Only if you count mobile games.

there's 10% chance any given user has played a video game in the past week

and that's a good thing

shut up mayocider

Isnt it an adaptation of a book the video game was based off of?

A book nearly nobody read if not for the games. But yes, they're supposedly using the books as the only source material.

I enjoy good fantasy and I've always been curious about that series. Its reviews are good but there's been too many times Ive bought a fantasy series off of reviews and been let down

Honestly, I wouldn't really describe the books as "good fantasy". I was kinda interested in the source material after beating the games, bought three or so books and ended up barely finishing the first one. Even done a bit of research on the subject and apparently 1) all translations suck and the original polish version is far superior 2) the author was super salty about the success of the video games. I can easily believe the latter one, but the former just feels like an excuse.

That's what I was afraid of. I made the mistake of buying the audio book of Prince of Thorns because the reviews were so good but it ended up being a story about a super edgy 15 yr old. Maybe it was because I was actually listening to it but an author has never made me cringe so much except maybe Jack Kerouac.

I read the trilogy because I thought it was self-aware. At one point a character says something like 'its only natural to do these things in a game for thrones'. Also the ending is a huge, huge tweest. Literally made up for everything prior.

Spoiler: He literally exorcises the edgelord out of himself because it's a detriment to the game plan.

Hmmm, so you think I'll end up liking it if I finish it? I'm at the part where he's been given a small amount of soldiers by his father to take a castle that's virtually impossible to take. I think he's looking for a mythical weapon too, idk, it was a long while ago when I stopped listening. I really liked the premise and the idea that it's actually set in a post apocalyptic world but the main character was so unlikable, maybe the narrator has something to do with my that

I cant remember where that is in the story, but I think you'll like. Two things to note: The edginess also put me off, but in the end I really enjoyed the series and I'd like to believe my standards are high; I read it and didn't listen to it, maybe the audio would have turned me off too.

Ok, you sold me, I'll at least finish the 1st book. I recently finished the 1st Elderlings trilogy which was really good. Quite a change of pace from Stormlight Archives but it's probably one of my favorite series now

If you haven't, check out The Name of the Wind. It's solidly at the top of my favorites.

That's one of my favorites too, it's actually one of the books I'm reading right now. I'd compare Robin Hobb's writing to the way Rothfuss writes in the sense that they both have some of the most beautiful prose...Rothfuss writes a much more complex plot but Hobb's supporting characters are so much more layered and interesting...in NOTW it sometimes seems like Kvothe is the only 3 dimensional character and the majority of the rest only exist to further the story

There's definitely some of that going on, the most egregious ones being Bast, prick nobleman, sewer fairy, and the teachers he ends up pissing off. I would say Denna is also a victim of this in the first book.

what I really like about that trilogy are the stories within the story, the mythology behind the Chandrian, Lanre and Selitos, the guy who steals the moon(I forget his name) and how it all potentially ties into the plot. My favorite theory is that Selitos is The Cthaeh....when I found r/kingkillerchronicles I spent hours reading theories

Same same and same

Don't watch a ton of TV, but keeping an eye out for the series if it comes out.

Me too. I think as long as they cast Kvothe right and remain faithful to the source material it'll be good. Im worried about the Wheel of Time though, theres a lot of room for error there

wheel of time

Shit first I'm hearing this and yeah, there's just too much material there for so little recognition. Sure every fantasy nerd knows it, but that isn't that big of a crowd. Hopefully initial success keeps the money flowing in.

The exec producer/writer is a big fan of the series so that gives me faith. Here's an AMA he did a few wks ago before Amazon officially green lit it

Addition, the spoiler is not the twist. That happens before halfway through the books.

I've read three of the books. They are decent.

Its ok/10, better than most books based on video games but lol

I don't hate video games, just gamers.

fuck mayos

ewww nooo

Don’t shame my kink.

Oh shit, Watermark02 Watermark03 is a Ghazelle?? No wonder he and nmx179 have hate boners for each other.

I suggest a good 69 session to relieve tensions.

Can't we just put both their heads in a vise and combine their brains into one radical centrist?

That would be just centrist. A radical centrist would have two heads like an ogre, biting and spitting at each other.

He was, but then he deleted his first account for 'sperging too hard'. Looks like his 18 hour break from Reddit didn't work out.

Oh no, I think you misinterpreted that comment. I'm proud of literally everything I did on /r/drama and regret none of it.

a

two comments is too many because that indicates you weren’t banned for your first comment

Probably referring to his posting "style", which is nothing short of cancer.

LOL, I had a few posts there. I also had posts on /r/MDE.

I never liked the witcher because all he does is say smug lines while casting that gay ass shield spell nonstop. Also everyone is gross, the ui sucks and is autistic people, and finally the story is shit.

people try to tell me witcher 3 combat was good but it was literally rolling in circles and casting shield on cd

To be fair if you’re willing to put in the effort you can make it more fluid and interesting but... I otherwise fully agree.

But that’s the thing tho. You can beat the game with shield, dodge, and then quick attack. There’s no reason to change this formula up whatsoever

It was made thay way so casualtards can complete it with a 2 step spam (like TES games)

If you think that's bad, read the first book where half of it is just Grimm Fairy Tales + OC geralt

Honestly I didn't get that far into the Witcher 3. Also the first Wticher was gay.

I swear just when I become ok with minorities and make peace with multiculturalism every time one of these scandals come around with the enforced diversity and blackwashing it just makes me hate minorities more

Literally was not a scandal

Literally was something you guys made up and sperged about for months and then act like you had a huge victory when, as everyone expected, it was nothing, and pretending as if everyone wanted Ciri to be black when we just don't give a fuck and you guys are insane.

Literally everytime one of these fake scandals happen, I hate white people more.

Did you seriously just link an entire /r/drama thread that's at the top of the sub right now?

Best/worst part is it's not even the only thread doing this:

https://old.reddit.com/r/Drama/comments/9n6qa5/rdrama_thread_about_sexist_ai_devolves_into/

To make matters worse both the original posts and the metaposts mocking them are on the front page right now.

"Hey Watermark said some shit!"

For real?

That's a good sperg but I want to point out all the not-so-lowkey faggots downvoting

He's not funny though so it's a moot point, he's just sort of pathetic.

lol

Damn my nibba is sperging the fuck out in there

The Witcher isn't set in Poland. It won't become reality just because you MDEtards keep repeating it.

the Polish guy who wrote it is pretty clear that it’s set in a fanstasy version of medieval Poland, so what are you talking about

Poland will be black in 100 years ideally so it's basically true

“there will be no more discrimination when everyone is a shade of brown

why no I don’t have a passport why do you ask”

online TV show casting doesn't make a point to affirm your favorite races

life is just so cruel.

Implying that anyone ever gave a shit about Ciri's race besides you

lol
