The trans stuff in Life of Brian also wasn't a joke about how it's funny that someone is trans, it was about the way the group reacts to it.

I love Monty Python, but that movie was by far their worst one.

The bit about stoning is funny because it makes light of archaic and abstract rules followed by people in history, but overall is a ver loose depiction of how the Israelite legal system supposedly actually worked and how effectively and frequently is was enforced.
