Unemployed retard doesn’t understand nature, how to moor a boat, or why people bother with insurance in a Hurricane prone area. But he’s got the inside scoop on those (((globalists)))!

You're oversimplifying a complex situation to the point of adding nothing to the discussion.

I am a bot. (Info / Contact)

I don't know anything about boats, but this looks like it's still repairable.

Really depends on if there are any cracks in the hull/what the keel looks like. He bought the whole thing two weeks ago for 2 grand and it would probably cost more and take longer to get it back on the water.

It’s flotsam at this point.

Yeah, $2k for a boat that size implies that it needs work just by itself.

The people claiming mandatory insurance have never lived on a sail boat unless you have the thing dry docked all year and it never gets actually used insurance is normally worth more than the replacement of the boat a year (assuming you actually blue water sail). almost no one that actually does ocean sailing has their boat insured. (Outside of multi-million dollar toys or racing boats)

No one is advocating you go to Lloyd’s of London to insure your POS 20 ft live in. They are telling him to get liability insurance incase his dumb ass doesn’t moor his boat properly and it breaks away in a storm and damages someone’s multimillion dollar yacht/house.

Also, I’m going to be honest, I know a few sailors who sail across/down the Atlantic and all of their boats are insured...Unless you’re poor why wouldn’t you?

I was exaggerating when you are at mooring. Most people do.

Also, I’m going to be honest, I know a few sailors who sail across/down the Atlantic and all of their boats are insured...Unless you’re poor why wouldn’t you?

Because once you are more than 100km from shore you are either not covered or your premiums go up so much that you might as well put that money in an investment account in case you do sink her. Very very few people keep the insurance going once they leave port.

Alright I get what you're saying. Its literally not applicable to this situation at all, but I get what youre sayin.

Dude isnt going out 100 km from shore in a 22 ft fixer upper 2 weeks after he bought it while taking class at a local college during hurricane season. Hes just being a cheap ass libertarian.

It probably is salvageable however it's probably not worth it. Depending on where it is he will get a substantial bill for removing the wreck cleaning up any fuel leaked. Guy was an absolute mong you take a boat into the mangroves that has cover from the directions the Wind will come, you take all the sails down and the bimi and anything else that might catch wind.. then you don't loose your boat they are actually a very safe place to be in a hurricane assuming you prepare.

This guys delusional. Yes, you need money live. We live in a society. There is a buy in to that, dumb fuck.

Honestly though you don't need money if you have a boat. You can catch fish to feed yourself. Collect rain water to drink and sail to uninhabited islands and pick fruit to what nutrients you don't get from eating fish. You do not in fact need any money whatsoever to live. That's bullcrap.

Hardly the case. A boat costs a lot to upkeep. There is a reason they call boats holes in the water you throw money into.

Hey! You leave my troll post be.

Rofl. Hey, trolls are allowed to troll trolls.

Do a better job at troll postin

If you want to be completely isolated and live entirely off the grid thats true, thats not what this guy is doing, he wants all the benefits of living in a modern society without any of the responsibke costs associated with it.

I would bet 500 bucks this guy does ZERO of that

Catch fish for food

Except you need the appropriate licenses, stamps on said licenses, and must do so in season while only harvesting fish that meet the minimum size. You also will need a rod, line, bait, and a net plus cutlery and other fishing essentials. All of which costs money

Collect rainwater

Sure, if you have the resources to make the required equipment to gather and purify the water which costs money

Pick fruit from uninhabited islands

That's assuming said island has edible fauna

You do not, in fact, need money whatsoever to live. That's bullcrap

Except everything you just said is bullshit. You have to buy the boat, supplies to maintain it, safety gear, a radio (unless you're a dumb fuckwit who wants to be SOL should shit go down), navigational gear, etc.

I understand wanting to live free from the pestilence of society but it's simply not possible, let alone for free, unless you want to join some tribe of uncontacted fishermen down in Satan's asshole

We live in a society.

This is deep

BOTTOM TEXT

lol at people in their 40s with the mentality of college freshman.

This is why we need communism. Imagine how much cheaper insurance would be if the USSR never fell.

Imagine how much cheaper boats would be with communism!

A boat in every boathouse, and a boathouse for every house!

👆True.

Boat people are fuckin’ weird, man. Like I love boating, being out on the water, and other wypipo things as much as the next Mayo. But boat people who live on sailboats are 99.999 percent of the time either “stick it to the man” libertarians or criminals hiding on the water in plain sight.

Boat people are either one cop-stop away from the pokey or secretly plotting their manifesto to overthrow (((them))). There are few in the middle of that spectrum, except the raging drunks who can’t afford to live in a real house because they spend all of their money on scotch.

Is it something to do with that naval law autism sov citizens are always babbling about?

Yeah but the thing is the waterways are still sovereign soil and patrolled by both the local law enforcement and wildlife cops. And if they’re docked at a marina they’re still tied up to dry land. They can be boarded at any time for being a dumb shit.

It's like 12 miles out but even that is within the economic region you need to be like a couple of hundred km out to sea for actual law of the seas to apply even then the big steel ships with guns can p much do what they want just as you can.

I've heard living on a boat makes you way more vulnerable to warrantless searches even when just moored at the dock.

I believe that is the case because the owner of the marina can give them access to your vessel.

Boat people are like horse people but instead of horse sex it's boat sex and instead of land it's water

That sounds somehow even more erotic.

“The implication” is a real phenomenon.

It's mostly the scotch, except you find the the people that live on power boats are the ones drinking scotch they are not actual sailors. Actual sailors drink rum and can't afford diesel for motors hence the sails.

This guy pirates.

Like I love boating

FUCK boating.

Found the poor person.

Can we just take a moment to acknowledge how sad it is that this storm didn't manage to wipe out the entire Florida panhandle and everyone in it? Maybe next year.

This but unironically. I'm disappointed that all we got in GA was rain when everyone was stocking up on everything and pulling their kids from school as if Christ himself was about to wash this redneck fuckhole away

lolbertarians gonna lol
