Lol, if you can't understand the amount of brainwashing that happens in southern, overly Christian towns, then take it from someone who's been there. The stereotypes are true. Except for maybe the incest, I never ran into much of that, but everything else is. It takes a long time to break it, and when you finally do, a lot of people end up like either the goobers at r/atheism or our chapotard friend u/watermark03. Give him time and he'll find his way back to the middle.
