If you support free speech, you must support people pinging other users. It's completely legal speech. If you won't defend pinging as free speech because you or someone else finds it disgusting, then no speech that you or anyone else views as disgusting is safe.

if it is in fact on shaky legal ground it's reasonable to not want to be the case that establishes it as illegal.

It's not, The reddit admins are straight up lying to the ignorant (like yourself) to justify their prejudice. Pinging being protected speech has long since been estabilished, as it has undeniable artistic merit. The only time it's been included under any obscenity laws is when someone is being charged with possession of harassment, so the state can slap them with more charges. The courts have been very careful to not charge anyone for pinging, because they'd get their asses fucking annihilated by a higher court due to the firm precedence of pinging being completely legal speech. /r/Drama had nothing to worry about, this guy was just making shit up to fool people into thinking his censoring wasn't entirely personally motivated.

If only we could ping the SRDines 😢

I didn't read any of the thread just wanted to say everyone knows the handicap stalls are the best. So spacious, hand grips (for those difficult shits), higher toilets.

Do you really want to catch a disability?

Posting here will solve that problem

Yeah, no shame in using the best toilet, they're there so that it's not impossible for handicapped people to use the restroom while out and about, not so that they can have a monopoly of access.

I disagree that there's "no shame". If there are ten stalls available, and you use a regular stall, the next person who comes in, whether disabled or not, can use an open stall. If you use the ADA stall, you've effectively blocked off all the stalls if a person with a disability comes in.

It's polite to leave it available if other stalls are free. But no shame in using it if all other stalls are occupied or otherwise not available.

You're optimizing for the rare case at the expense of the massively more common happy path. You could use the ADA stall a thousand times and you still probably would never actually have made a handicapped person who needs it wait even once. The comfort factors x1000 occurrences trumps the 2 minute inconvenienced a handicapped person has to suffer once.

Handicapped stalls aren't and were never intended to be exclusivly for handicapped people, they are to make sure that there is at least one place in buildings that have to be up to code where a handicapped person can use the restroom.

I agree. I still think that it's the polite thing to do. If I don't need the ADA restroom on a particular day, I won't use it.

Similarly, I have an ADA parking placard, but if I'm having a good day and there's a spot within that day's walking distance, I don't park in the ADA spot.

It's just a matter of being thoughtful, and I think thoughtfulness is always a good thing.

When wheels inevitably roll up and you hear someone ask you to hurry up, I just leave the door locked and climb out over the top of the stall.

Hi - yeah, that was me. I totally baited them and I was 110% completely innocent! People just started calling me names out of nowhere and even though I reported it ALL to the Admins, multiple times, the comments are still there! I even got a shitty PM that called me a faggot and I'm totally a girl!

Whatever, I'm SO over it. Drama Queens can suck my dick.

Nope, not the answer.

Here - you dropped this ---> "O"

Now that is an EPIC burn 😎
