The issue is that saying sorry is essentially pleading guilty. If you don't admit your pedo spying, you'll have always have at least some amount of plausible deniability.

I can't disagree with her. I feel like even the people who get offended by blackface don't actually get why it was offensive in the first place. It was bad because the people were painting themselves as an exaggerated stereotype of what a black person looks like while acting as a stereotype of black people at the time Trying to accurately portray a specific person for a costume by matching skin tone shouldn't be in the same category.
Unfortunately for her though it's one of those subjects that if you even trying to have a little bit of discussion about you will be shredded to pieces.
