I'm not even sure what your point is. Yeah I'd rather sleep with a dakimakura of my waifu Renge-chan than with some random 3D slut but that doesn't mean I'm desperate, it's the opposite, it implies that I have standards.

Obvious bait is obvious. Can't wait to see the Chapos rush to defend Mother/Father (however it self-identifies) Russia.

The funny thing is, half of the time the word translated into English as “motherland”, is actually otechestvo which comes from the word for “father”, but people always think of Germany as the fatherland and Russia as the motherland.

Dammit. I knew I was right when I referred to Russia as the fatherland once back in high school! And everyone yelled at me for it too.

Vodka was expensive because the Soviets were trying to curb Russia's alcoholism problem, without prohibition. So they just steadily raised vodka prices to crazy levels in hopes people would kick the habit. In modern Russia things returned to free market principles so of course alcoholism has exploded since the Soviet era.
1 TheMauveHand 2018-11-04
It didn't help that alcoholic beverages under about 5% ABV were considered soft drinks.

Lmao. That's why soundtrack for one of the most famous Soviet cartoons was made using the American synthesizer Mini Moog.
Soviet consumer goods were mostly clones: cars, toys, games.
There is a strange myth at Reddit that 'free healthcare' is always better.
1 okedtsuj 2018-11-04
It is tho
1 SpiceAndEvNice 2018-11-04
there's nothing free in this world.

The people in public hospitals in cities like Naples who are sitting on the floor because there isn't enough seating might disagree with you if they weren't so distracted by trying to figure out what color the wall is supposed to be under the all of the filth or gagging on the smell of the place.
There's a reason why every country that has """""free""""" healthcare also has a booming private healthcare industry.
And that reason is that is free healthcare is only better than no healthcare.
1 Shitposting_Skeleton 2018-11-04
So US healthcare? Not only do hospital overcharge you like hell, you also have to pay for new organs for ailing boomers through Medicare taxes.
1 IronicRacismIsCool 2018-11-04
Stupid that they totally excluded the Soviets from the charts.

Worse o line play I ever seen. Worse than the 0-16 season.

Living in Soviet Russia was basically hell. If you somehow found a way to avoid the gulag, the KGB would tortue people they thought had cash/jewels stashed away. They would just grab you and put you in a sweat box for a month until you gave up the goods. Or made you stand for 5 days straight until you told them about a neighbor who had a stash.
Yah, free healthcare tho.

Women had to buy bras on the black market and this was during the 1980s.
