I've considered doing it, but that site has the oldest and most clunky archive search function known to man. Back around the 2008 election or the gay marriage decision would be spectacular. The most hilarious part is the site owner is still fundraising $90k every quartile for a site that hasn't had a design update since 1995 or something.

Last time I looked the drama had actually gotten pretty dull though. Most of the weirdest jesus freaks either died or got banned for saying Trump blatantly doesn't give a shit about morality and Ted Cruz should've been (((their guy))), so there is nobody to rage at the diehard libertarians anymore. The really contentious baptist vs catholic fights have also been replaced by boring mayocide anxiety. Even the "nuke the damn russkies" crowd has been culturally enriched by Putin cheerleaders, so it's kinda lost that eerie mid-cold war charm.

The only real holdout of old-school FR madness I can find is Mr Zionist Conspirator, some weird type of fundamentalist christian turned messianic jew who has spent literally 15 years on that site arguing that christians "sold out" by not taking the old testament literally anymore, while simultaneously whining that flyover rednecks like him are unfairly stigmatised as inbred yokels.

The real beauty is that with 2016, it was a zero-sum game. People claimed to care about congress, but they didn’t. No matter what happened, one side would celebrate.

I don't know why conservatives are worried at all. Democrats are expected to take the house, it is solid historical precedent and almost definitely what's going to happens. If they fail to do so, it would arguably be a bigger upset than hillary's loss.

It is equally likely the conservatives keep the senate.

So... the republicans can cite the house as a reason nothing gets done & cast themselves as victims to the inevitable witch hunting the dems spin up (any attempt at impeachment without ironclad evidence would be basically handing the republicans 2020 on a platter), while continuing to shove judges through the senate.

That's not how DDF psychology works. Their need to win is not rational and a zero sum game. Losing the House, despite the high likelihood of it happening and the precedent for it, is still a loss for them. They don't think about meta politics, just Daddy winning or losing. Daddy says losing the house is bad, so it must be bad full stop.

One thing we know for sure, win or lose Trump is going to take the most retarded stance imaginable. T_D should be pretty great as well.

But dems are still shit at getting to the polls, plus voter suppression is a pretty big deal in some areas.

As a californian, my biggest concern is that the dirty state congress fuckers are trying to raise my gas taxes.

I'd just like to point out that, as someone who grew up in CA and is currently in Texas, a state which hasn't raised the gas tax in decades, that it's basically a lose-lose or wash either way. In CA the gas tax is high, but there are very few toll roads, even in large metro areas like LA and SF (apart from major bridges which are the same everywhere), and those that do exist are in my experience not essential.

Gas is cheap here, but the DFW area is cris-crossed with toll roads that are almost necessities for most people that commute to work. It takes me nearly twice as long to over twice as long to commute avoiding the tolls, and it involves a lot more stop and go traffic. So I pay ~2.40/gal last month but I also racked up ~$40 in tolls for a relatively short commute. I only go through maybe ~$40 gas a month, so my tolls effectively make it like I'm paying ~$4/gal gas anyway.

I can imagine toll roads might be more expensive in CA due to requiring more stringent engineering during the process, for what that's worth.

Interesting; yeah the only tolls I'm aware of on the west coast are for major bridges/tunnels and HOT (colloquially Lexus) lanes.

the LA-OC area is a mess. There's 3 partial toll freeways in the OC area (241, 261, 73), and they toll the fuck out of you if you want to save some traffic on the 91 getting to riverside.

In LA almost every freeway approaching downtown has had it's diamond lane replaced with an express lane i.e. a toll lane. I know for sure this is the case on the 10 and on the 605.

If Democrats take the house, they will get committed and have subpoena powers to investigate stuff. Hence why DDF is cared.
