Ok, sigh, I am a geek and know tons and tons of anime people. There are meet ups, events, conventions and parties. There is NEVER a need to meet alone in a man's apartment.

What anime does have is an adult male predator problem. Someone who does exactly what your SO is doing to a vulnerable clueless teen. Eventually it gets sexual or rape until she disappears and a new CHILD is targeted.

This is talked about on all anime websites and frequently is covered on what to avoid. In other words, he can't be that clueless or naive. He is a predator. And people in that anime community probably try to warn girls about him.
