I have had a smaller scale of this happen a few years ago at my school. This girl was assigned to this group with strangers and they were all in a group chat making shitty jokes about how their dad will hack their account and shit. The girl insults this guy's dad as a joke, and someone from that group texted her the navy seal copy pasta from an unknown number pretending to be the kid's dad.

She ate it up and complained to the school. She actually believed his dad said that, basically told the school the kid's dad was threatening her. Nothing big happened other than her being moved to another group though unfortunately.
