Carlsen is the best rapid and blitz player in the world convincingly. Caruana is widely known to be pretty sub average in rapid and blitz relative to his extremely high rating in classical. It would be nothing short of stunning if Caruana beat Magnus in rapid and blitz.
How much must it suck to be the second-best in the world at something? If you're just an ordinary garbage-human, that's one thing, but to be almost the best ever? It's like your entire life is blue balls.
For people not smart enough for Chess, tl;dr this is important because if it was genuinely accidentally released it gives Carlsen important information regarding his opponent's strategy.
They're perfectly balanced in the sense that players get to choose their asymmetries. For instance mirror starcraft matches of mirror maps are perfectly balanced
Then in that case the click spam and speed is a different skill than smarts. That's why chess is the perfect mental game, it requires no physical skill or speed to play. And it's why computers can't solve it to this day.
Computers already beat humans at it. Chess isn't so much a mental game as a game of who can spend the most time studying openers. It plays itself. Maybe the top 4 players in the world get to be creative but most people competitively playing chess are just good at memorizing useless information. In a game like starcraft there is constantly something more you could do if you can spare the attention and brainpower. Can that stalker get another shot off before blinking safely? Should I spend these resources on a worker or another fighting unit? If I invest a more long term structure can my current defense hold for it to pay off, where your current defence is a shifting calculus of current resource production funneled through unit production in careful compositions? Are all questions that could need to be answered simultaneously at real time. The meta game around a starcraft match itself has the potential to be as demanding as chess with the added deminsion of real time control.
Click spamming is an asinine complaint, your ability to click arbitrarily fast is meaningless if you arent making meaningful decisions with those clicks.
One side always had an advantage thanks to starting first
Even the smartest supercomputers can't prove that yet. And in the last two grandmaster games going on now, black had the advantage both times for either player.

he will lose anyway, burgers are too stupid for chess

Idk man, the fact that carlsen couldn't secure a win in g1 was concerning.

6-6. Then Carlsen loses in rapids. You heard it here first

He's the 2nd best right now because he's in a title series for 1 against the reigning 1.

/r/chess has way more audience than I thought possible.
1 okedtsuj 2018-11-14
chess is literally the most popular board game in the world
1 myshl0ng 2018-11-14
But rts and moba games objectively require more speed and intelligence
1 okedtsuj 2018-11-14
you have never seen a bullet game, have you
lol no
1 aj_thenoob 2018-11-14
Not intelligence, lmao. The whole idea of chess is that everything is completely fair at the start. Mobas and rts games aren't perfectly balanced.

Unironically this. Video games, like it or not, beat Chess in raw unadulterated intelligence and cunningness required
1 Shitposting_Skeleton 2018-11-14
Chess is unironically closer to fighting games than RTS or even some TBS games.

Everything is balanced and equal because both sides start at the same time
Face it. Chess is a boomer meme.

Why are gamers this stupid?
