I couldn’t stand SRD. The cringe there was suffocating. One idiot was whining about /r/drama being a doxxing paradise, others were circlejerking about how the sub leans slightly right but is really moderate. And as you note OP, they all fuckin whine about Daddy, altright, and idiots who can’t get laid.
If you support free speech, you must support people pinging other users. It's completely legal speech. If you won't defend pinging as free speech because you or someone else finds it disgusting, then no speech that you or anyone else views as disgusting is safe.
if it is in fact on shaky legal ground it's reasonable to not want to be the case that establishes it as illegal.
It's not, The reddit admins are straight up lying to the ignorant (like yourself) to justify their prejudice. Pinging being protected speech has long since been estabilished, as it has undeniable artistic merit. The only time it's been included under any obscenity laws is when someone is being charged with possession of harassment, so the state can slap them with more charges. The courts have been very careful to not charge anyone for pinging, because they'd get their asses fucking annihilated by a higher court due to the firm precedence of pinging being completely legal speech. /r/Drama had nothing to worry about, this guy was just making shit up to fool people into thinking his censoring wasn't entirely personally motivated.
my korean isn't good enough for some of the specific terms but it sounds like she's just doing what 10 year olds do, repeating anything they've heard at school that might hurt someone's feelings.
the whole time the ajussi is probably just thinking he only has to listen to her for a few mins and then he can get back to his normal business and thinking like 미친 씨발년
From what I could tell these are some of the things the kid said, roughly translated lol
“I don’t know if you’re a monster or an idiot, but I don’t want to live with you anymore”
“I don’t care if you get fired, let me out right now, right this instant”
I love this one, the kid is so conceited haha
“Hey driver, I’m not the the type of person that loses. I’m the type that gets 1st place every time I get into a debate/argument.”
“I don’t want to become a bad person because of you. I’m usually a really kind person but you’re making me become a bad person.”
“I was like this to my old driver because he was really bad. But you’re even worse than that driver.”
“First of all, what went wrong with you, is that your parents didn’t educate you well enough.”
“Because you had no money you couldn’t go to the hospital or the dentist. Because you were too poor.”
“If you’re going to earn money, at least earn it right. Do a good job”
“You’re going to get fired. I really hate seeing you. I wish you would die. That’s my desire/wish. That you would die. Just die. I really wish you would die. Go die.”
Nothing is better than bantz from a 10-year old translated from another language. I know at r/drama we're weirdos, but I hope you'll stick around and give us your perspective. It's only a matter of time before the next chaebol drama erupts.
Is there some chaebol equivalent of Rich Kids of Instagram that I can scope?
Also - I was actually pretty pleasantly surprised at the executive’s statement. I wish people practiced that kind of self accountability re parenting in the United States:
“I bow my head in heartfelt apology for the trouble my child has caused,” said Bang, the second son of Bang Sang-hoon, the owner of the Chosun Ilbo, in a statement on Thursday. “Please reprimand me for having raised a child so improperly. I wish to extend my apology once again to the chauffeur for any emotional pain [he endured].”
The driver recorded the girl’s verbal insults on several occasions and submitted the recording to the company on Oct. 24. Two days later, he was fired.
The embarassment isn't simply the behavior of the kid, it's the about the conduct of the human resources department.
They've got class issues in Korea that are much more extreme than in America. The rich get away with more and the commoners hate them for it more, so you get lots more weird scandals like this, or the nut rage incident, the throwing a glass of water incident, etc.
I really wouldn't say they're much more extreme than the US. Maybe super rich multi-millionaires get away with more there, but overall the US has a higher GINI coefficient (more income inequality) so for the average person Korea is better in that regard. I'm concerned that pointing and laughing at other country's problems, as opposed to sympathising/learning from them, can be a distraction from your own (I'm from Australia not the US but still applies).
Yeah, I know what you mean. I try not be like the smug Swede who pretends that their country is perfect and bad things only happen somewhere else.
On the other hand, there's a lot of bad stuff in our own cultures that we accept just because we're used to it. When we see it in another country and how absurd it is there, we can come back to our own country and take it as a lesson on what to avoid.

I think it's more of an apology for having a rotten HR department.

OMG you really came through for me. This is the best thing I've ever seen on the internet in years.

Happy to help! Some of the translations sound strange in English, but you get the idea haha

Yea kind of shitty he lost his job. A 10 year old of any upbringing can be an awful piece of crap. Awful kids don't always grow up to be awful adults.

Not if you
beatraise the child properly.1 SaIadcream 2018-11-23

What do you mean? Sounds like they acted pretty quickly. I think they were too harsh actually

>bring video evidence of poor working conditions to HR and ask for remedy
>HR fires you
???

What? The dad was fired not the driver.
Wait.. Did I mess that up?
1 Redactor0 2018-11-23
I think the driver got fired, then went to the media, then the dad got fired.
1 mrubuto22 2018-11-23
Oh. My bad. That's horrific
1 LightUmbra 2018-11-23
Asia is so weird.
1 butwhydoesreddit 2018-11-23
lol this is the article that makes you say that? Like there aren't spoilt rich kids anywhere else?
1 mrubuto22 2018-11-23
I assume he means the weird part is the adult taking responsibility. That doesn't happen in america.

That and the driver who was abused that submitted the recordings to the company was fired. Like. Wtf Korea.
1 Redactor0 2018-11-23
Korean commoners should be carrying backpacks full of human shit to the fields to use as fertilizer, not criticizing their princesses!

Kids abusing "servants" is common, but this backfire not so much.
Serves the father right for spoiling the girl.

Arrogant Koreans - enough stories for a subreddit.
