If you support free speech, you must support people pinging other users. It's completely legal speech. If you won't defend pinging as free speech because you or someone else finds it disgusting, then no speech that you or anyone else views as disgusting is safe.
if it is in fact on shaky legal ground it's reasonable to not want to be the case that establishes it as illegal.
It's not, The reddit admins are straight up lying to the ignorant (like yourself) to justify their prejudice. Pinging being protected speech has long since been estabilished, as it has undeniable artistic merit. The only time it's been included under any obscenity laws is when someone is being charged with possession of harassment, so the state can slap them with more charges. The courts have been very careful to not charge anyone for pinging, because they'd get their asses fucking annihilated by a higher court due to the firm precedence of pinging being completely legal speech. /r/Drama had nothing to worry about, this guy was just making shit up to fool people into thinking his censoring wasn't entirely personally motivated.
Slightly off-topic, but last I've heard, all the drug guys really fucking hate the crypto bubble because it's put a spotlight on crypto transactions, and therefore a spotlight on their transactions.
Sure, plus the rampant instability in prices makes it way riskier. The ~13% drop in price since yesterday is definitely not what I’d want if I was looking to conduct an illegal cash business.
Imagine being the guy who sold 5g of coke and had his payment drop 13.5% in value before being able to cash out.
That plus the fact that every single transaction ever done is completely observable to anyone who wants to download the blockchain data, makes it amazing to me that btc took off as a payment method for illegal goods. You might actually be better taking credit cards.

These guys get it: buy low, sell high.

Buy low, sell even lower; or HODL because your emotional investment is at least as great as your financial stake.
1 soulshots 2018-11-25
Or rather you're as stable emotionally as you are financially.

Teaching her about investing by purchasing currency and then sitting on it for years as it appreciates value infinitely.
You're an incredible uncle!

I'm not gonna tell her until it reaches £10000 again and return the hundred rupees I took from her 😊

Getting into banking, eh?

I think the utility of bitcoin (using it to buy drugs and whatnot on the darkweb) means it will still be relevant, just at a lower price in dollars.

There’s better options for that, though. Monero, for example, doesn’t make dead simple to track all transactions in the network.

Imagine buying enough crypto for 5g of coke but by the time your coins get to the seller it's only worth 3.5g of coke.

Drug dealers aren't the smartest people, I guess.

I had the reverse happen. Left $5 in coin on a market because it was below the minimum for withdrawals, came back a few months later to it being $8.
I'm pretty much the new Daddy Musk so AMA

you want a community that takes its buttcoin way too seriously? Go to r/btc and tell them that bitcoin is better than bitcoin cash.
