This is a story about the sub /r/cutetraps, and the prior associated Discord server. Keep in mind this is my side of the story, and I can't evidence most with screenshots anymore as the server was later deleted/made private. Beyond that, enjoy my autistic mountain dew fueled story about drama that really shouldn't exist anyway.

So we had a discord server for the sub before, and /u/sortahelpful at one point became the owner due to the old owner of it leaving. Now Sorta had some moderation issues even at the start, (such as arguing that we should allow minors into the NSFW areas) but it was smooth sailing for the most part. At one point however (and I'm sorry I can't provide screenshots), Sortahelpful decided to start bullying one of the mods (Taco) out (or as she puts it "manipulating people" to sound tough and powerful). At this point, we were also starting to have an issue with her, and many others, talking about sex in the SFW areas. Once again we had minors on the server and I had made sure that they wouldn't let at least anyone under 17 in the NSFW channels. (a concession that shouldn't have been done anyway). Talking about sex and posting NSFW images is not only breaking discord rules (the one argument that seemed effective at all with her), but very inappropriate to do with young teenagers too. And yes, we had some teenage members who not only told us they were young, but would even inform us if we failed when setting up a new channel and they could still see it.

We also started to have issues with trolls and shitposting, our #general was constantly filled with memes and spam, and in one case a user during an actual conversation mentioned they had arachnophobia and several of the trollposters started to spam spider pics at them. I do have screenshots of this, since I was the one to message them and calm them down and let them know spamming spiders like that wouldn't be accepted. https://i.imgur.com/ocXbAbY.png. At that point, I wanted to ban them because not only were they shitting up the place, but they were now actively bullying other users. Another example of how trolls and shitposters took the place over, we had one user join who was known for sending death threats to others join, and I was told by Sorta that it was wrong to ban them. Anyway, I tried to just handle it and at times I could get the chat under control. Most of the time, it was through just kicking the trolls until Sorta got angry and unbanned them again, but I've dealt with unhelpful server owners/top mods before so I just shrug it off. A mistake sure, but not one too bad, it was my time wasted trying to help the place, not anyone else's. This all culminated into an issue later on, when I was refusing to give the special trusted member role to someone who was calling our younger members perverts (like I said, many of them even actively told us if we missed a nsfw channel from our nonsfw role) and bitches, because I didn't think it's reasonable to let a toxic person have a special role, it makes us mods look bad when they then go around being mean to others, because they're a "trusted user." (She eventually got banned a bit after I left the server for her toxicity with other members at the time calling her a "twat" and saying she was very rude). This wasn't some one off issue either, many people told her she encouraged shit heads. Evidence for Sorta getting angry about banning trolls who join in without discussing with her first. She also mentions that she wasn't very active in the server or modding it while this was going on, and I could even get her to acknowledge "insulting other people isn't good" but any question of "why should we allow such behavior" was always deflected with "this is too stressful for me". I got fed up with the place and left after that, I wasted too much time on it.

So, where do the mass shooters come in? A while after, and once again I have no screenshots of this since the server was since deleted, I had joined back in to see if things were calmed down. At that time, our general chat was still overflowed with shitposts and spam, and when I looked back in the search I noticed that she had referred to our former mod Taco as being "the next Elliot Rodger".

The new update to this drama is that one of their troll cabal was an inactive mod above me in the sub, and they kicked me off the mod team right after I banned their main shitposter from the new discord I made (on request of several users). It'll forever remain the weirdest coincidence that five people join at the same time and spam similar things. It'll be settled once the top mod comes back online anyway, so it's not going to be that big of drama there.

So there you have it, the needlessly sperg filled story of Elliot Rodger, Death Threats, Sex Talk with Minors and the Trap Discord Server.
