I am not all that familiar myself but they're not Islamic fundamentalist per say, they believe peace can't achieved by fighting the Taliban militarily but through negotiations(as the Americans themselves have found out in Afghanistan).
Of course any party in pakistan has to pander to hardliners, only the degree to which they do that varies.
PTI recently tried to get an Ahmadi economist appointed to the government, they're secular by Pakistani standards They do have to pay tribute to political Islam, but you can't really exist as a poltiical party in Pakistan without doing so.
Well he is good but even he wouldn't be able to stop this on a such a short time and most probably would have been blamed for it(Yahoodi-Ahmadia sazeesh).

Aren't the "pti" everyone's talking about in that thread the islamic fundamentalist party?

Yeah that's what I am saying as well lol. Their religious rhetoric if any seems purely for politics than deeply held beliefs.
Unfortunate on Atif mian although he doesn't need to be hold an official position to advice the government.

It's a real shame he wasn't appointed, he's highly competent.

I think an unofficial support is better.

Sharif government put us deep in Chinese debt, but IK govt isn't doing too well either; definitely an improvement though.

Realistically I don't see what any government can do clear out this mess in a few years let alone a 100 days.
This time if Pakistan does go to the IMF it should actually follow up with the reforms they're suggesting.
1 pisserpatterwater 2018-11-30
Yeah, they don't really have any good options for fixing it.
