Define what right wing means. They weren't internationalists, but were economically lefty. They were anti-traditional elite, but not inclusive of people deemed outsiders. In Italy Mussolini started as a Socialist and then added in nationalistic elements. Near as I can tell the big difference between Fascists and Communists is that at least the Commies claim that they are internationalists based on class solidarity and are theoretically anti-racist and anti-sexist, while Fascists are explicitly nationalist and generally pretty anti-outsiders, whoever they deem that to be. In the end they both just tend to kill a fuck ton of people in the name of their ideology and if you get in their way and accuse the other of being worse to justify their atrocities.

Not really. They are oddly nationalistic, I will grant you that. But they don't shy away from hiring public sector workers like crazy, raising their wages way above those in the private sector and being overall very generous with the state apparatus. Worst of both worlds. A fucking joke.

Their discourse is almost identical though. Reeeing about fake news, reeeing about the EU, insulting minorities, claiming foreigners are out to get us, claiming the parallel (i.e. deep) state is out to get them, taking credit for economic progress they had nothing to do with, being strangely silent about Russia's bs etc. etc. It's a wonder they haven't been kicked out of the PES tbh.

They are indeed populists and overall not much more than a bunch of thieves who should be rotting in jail. But my biggest beef with them is this idiotic tendency to increase public spending because that's the one that affects me most, when I pay my taxes. For example, there are public sector nurses that earn almost 2,000 EUR and that's ridiculous for Romania. I don't mind them earning that much per se, but this is from my money and I think it's wrong that public sector employees, notorious for their incompetence and inefficiency should have wages 30% higher than average while private sector employees have them 13% below the average. This is wrong and unsustainable.

Personally I don't think raising wages for medical personnel e.g. is a bad thing considering they are emigrating in droves, but the way the public sector is so blatantly non-competitive is outrageous. Like you said, job performance is basically a non-issue for them.

And don't even get me started on all the money they give to the Church. I'd sort of understand that if they were actual Christcucks, but they're just paying lip service to a corrupt institution that is collapsing in popularity year after year.

Yea but what can you do. That was the deal with the Church centuries ago. They gave their lands to the State in return for perpetual financial support (priest wages, etc). It's wrong, it's exaggerated and it should stop. But they also have a point, a deal's a deal. And the State still has those lands that used to belong to the Church.

It's not much worse than in other EU countries. Overall it's still a stable democracy, good business environment. And Bucharest is a really, really fun city with excellent value for money when it comes to housing, restaurants and going out in general.
