I’m always amazed how few people know about Gamergate. It’s not only the key to understanding so many violent harassment campaigns going on today, it’s lots of the same people angry about the same stuff using the same playbook.
They aren't defending him, they're obecting to using degenerate to describe him. If it was a different post where he came out of the closet as a gay, then degenerate would either not have been used, or received a large backlash against its usage.
is mentally ill better? Because only someone with a mental illness would do what he did. Completely detached from reality and how such an obviously offensive thing it would be to do that at a funeral.
Marshall, 28, way too tired, still an emo kid. Looks like one too. Really into Adromischus/South African succulents. Used to play lots of guitar, loves live shows. Intronaut (the band is good too). Stuck in an urban blight (Aurora) in a breathtaking state (Colorado). Pan/bi, in a loving relationship with my parter for 3 years

I doubt this is real though. Like the picture obviously is but the whole funeral thing, that's just based on the text and was probably wrote by someone trying to make it look even worse by adding fictional context.
The person who made that claim said they didn't even think it was relevant in this situation, they just wanted to link ContraPoints.
It feels like the Contra worship is a weird form of affirmative action where straight male and lesbian chapofags have to ritually declare how much they love transsexuals or otherwise be declared transphobic. Contra's not even remotely attractive.
I watched the original dubbed Pokemon show on the WB back in the day (98 or 99?), and the animation style always skeeved me out and put me on edge. None of my friends who watched shared that feeling, so I told my older sister about it, and she watched a little and said "yeah it's pretty annoying, it's like passive aggressive." I didn't know what that meant at the time, but I thought about it every time I was reminded of anime (or Ren & Stimpy, which is animated differently but gave me the exact same vibes).
Many many years later, home for the holidays, sister and I saw something on TV and I asked her what she meant that anime's animation style is passive aggressive. She said "it's like when you make fun of a person who's too happy all the time, so you smile way too big when you're not actually happy, and it makes you look crazy and dangerous, like a serial killer." And that hit it on the head for me. The bug eyes, the clown smiles, the insanely big emotions but subdued voice acting -- it's all freakish and unsettling and lacks any baseline of normalcy. Like when Christian Bale grins in American Psycho or Jack Nicholson says "heeeere's Johnny" in The Shining. It's not just sinister, but sort of mean-spirited too, as if mocking normal people who demonstrate those emotions in earnest.
Anyway, see some truth to your comment. What we watch effects our psyche, especially kids.
Hope its not pasta. Had the same recoil to certain cartoons like ren and stimpy as a kid, where even my 9-year-old brain could tell it was creeps and weirdos who were making them, and I connected so hard with that part about the "its like the animation equivalent of a forced mocking grin." That's exactly what it is, forced, grating, angry.
No sorry I wasn't agreeing with the top comment, just the one I responded to. I don't think anime makes people into furies and pedos, just that the usual anime animation style creeped me out as a kid, I could never put my finger on why, and that comment laid it out nicely - the big bug eyes, gritted-teeth smiles, painful weirdness all felt aggressively forced and mean-spirited. Compared to like disney and nicktoons, and even other japanese animation like Miyazaki, most anime gave me vibes like "an angry maladjusted weirdo made this" - the aesthetics of it, not even the content
That's a cool take. I never thought of the over the top "no baseline of normalcy" before. I just wrote it off as a trope of anime. Characters being kiddish and seemingly bipolar, I mean.
Stop motion with clay and other mediums always freaked me out as a kid. In an uncanny valley sort of way. Couldn't watch Nightmare Before Christmas. I could tell it was real but it was jerky and didn't move right.
I haven’t been on a furry convention. But I heard from my friends who are furries that vast majority don’t like or don’t consider people like that to be a furries. It’s totally different thing.
Seems more like a failed brigade to me. Whenever furfags get wind of something shitting on their degeneracy they instantly herd together and descend upon the offending party in droves. Dramacels may be retarded but at least we aren't the furfag retarded
Yeah true. I took my friends opinions as an example of some group of people having negative opinion on these “human pups” and them didn’t liking comparing a furry and these mentioned above. That’s it. Calm down man lol so salty
Here's the thing. You said a "humanpup is a furry."
Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that.
As someone who is a scientist who studies furries, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls humanpups furries. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.
If you're saying "furry family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Pheggodae, which includes things from anthromorphic cats to blue cats to dragons.
So your reasoning for calling a humanpup a furry is because random people "call the masked ones furries?" Let's get humancats and humanbirds in there, then, too.
Also, calling someone a human or an dog? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A humanpup is a humanpup and a member of the furry family. But that's not what you said. You said a humanpup is a furry, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the furry family furries, which means you'd call blue humanpups, humandalmatians, and other humanpups furries, too. Which you said you don't.

"Calling someone a degenerate means you're a fascist nazi"
Why the fuck are these people so eager to fall over each other defending a dude who came out as a furry at his dad's funeral of all places?
1 WarSanchez 2018-12-05
They see nothing wrong with exposing their red rockets at a funeral, why expect anything from them at this point?

In that case, maybe people who are stupid enough to believe in a religion need to be genocided. Now that's bettering the human species!
