I’m always amazed how few people know about Gamergate. It’s not only the key to understanding so many violent harassment campaigns going on today, it’s lots of the same people angry about the same stuff using the same playbook.
The social media reaction to the ladies on the cover being the villains is pretty entertaining. It took less than 8 hours for people to go from “yaaaaaaas queens” to “this is nazi propaganda”.

Race wars are just the macro social equivalent of angry sex, you work out your pent up, frustrated energy in a medium you both enjoy and then move on.
Everyone seems to want it, and holding it up inside can't be healthy.
