I kept my dead cat in the garage for 2 days . Best thing to do is get another cat as soon as possible .

They quickly get less happy when they realise that the old cranky cat was what kept the strays away.

We used to have an old cat that was always grumpy. Never had any stray cats around the house. He died a couple of years ago, ever since we've had quite a lot of them. Several generations, now.

They're cute though, so we don't mind them. And they get along fine with the cats we still have. They're still afraid of humans, though, so you can't really pet them or anything.

Had the same experience with my little guy 3 months ago. A day after my birthday. Lung cancer took him. We got 2 rescue kittens shortly after. Trust me man, it gets better. But you will never forget the impact your cat had on you. All the best.

Before my dog died (RIP Fluffy), he waited for me to get home from my first year of college. As soon as I walked through the door, I could tell something was off with him, and less than a week later he had to be put down because he had too many tumors throughout his body. We had absolutely no idea, and I still miss him all the time. They really do wait for you.

Thats lame, Im sorry. I know how you feel, my cat died a couple months ago. She was 18 and the last days of her life she was skin and bones, deaf, and currently attacked by fleas which were infesting our house at the time. Im just glad she isnt suffering anymore.

Hey man, I’m really sorry, I know how terrible you feel. I lost my friend a few months back and it absolutely tears me up. He was my best fucking friend growing up and he got me through some hard times. I owed so much to him. I couldn’t even tell anyone why I was so depressed because people don’t understand, they just say “it was just a cat.” Yet it literarily feels like a close friend or family member dying.

I try to remind myself that we gave him a great life, one that unfortunately many cats won’t have. Being grateful sometimes helps. Grateful he died with someone there, grateful he wasn’t hit by a car, or ran away never to return leaving you helpless. Let them live on in our hearts and in our memories. Ah fuck I’m choking up now.

Hey man, I lost a dog that was closer to me than anyone and now have a cat that is slowing down. It sucks, it really does. But it gets better. I remember reading that and thinking, “this is different. I’ll never get over it” but I truly have forgotten about her passing, rather I’ve only remembered the good moments we had. I’ve also adopted a new dog which has been a huge help, I recommend adopting a kitten who could really use your support. Best of luck to you during your grieving process.
