Now they're scrambling to avoid bouncing checks

How'd this playing in /r/Seattle?

They’re both retarded.

Enlightened.

shout out to /r/SeaWA, the newest in line

oh fuckin well, they made their bed they should lie in it

You are seemingly intelligent enough to think of a witty Reddit name and even put a little clever flair next to it, yet this escapes you? Sweaty, go to an evening class or something....

I thought they were taking some kind of principled stance. Nope, just too many of them were too lazy to make it to work that day

How’d you read the article without reading the article lo

Explain your nonsense

You knew something you’d need to read the article to know but also said something that’s you’d know was wrong if you read the article

but also said something that you’d know was wrong if you read the article

Which was?

That it didn’t lose due to people taking a “principled” stance.

The final vote to adopt the package was 4-2 in favor. But with three council members absent and two "no" votes from council members Lorena González and Lisa Herbold, the funding acceptance fell short of the five-vote majority it needed.

The rejection of the grant funds seemed to surprise everyone present, even those who opposed the ICE grant.

On a normal day, González’s opposition would probably not have sunk the entire package; a full council likely would have provided the five votes. But with council members Debora Juarez, Kshama Sawant and Teresa Mosqueda absent and Herbold joining González, the grants fell short and the council was left unsure of what to do next.

Even González said she assumed her vote would not spike the whole bill. “I did not intend to derail today’s committee hearing in this fashion,” she said.

Learn2read thanks

You literally quoted the part where it says the 2 “principled” voters cost them the vote. Like you do realize if they voted yes it would have passed, right? Meaning that it failed because they voted no.

Right, because they expected three more council members to show up so they could vote no without it actually threatening it's passage. It's dumb form of pandering that's overdone in politics and it's hilarious that it finally blew up in someone's face.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face. Nice to Kshama Sawant still running around, I wonder what chapo thinks of her

surprisingly kshama was out today

for the drama folx - kshama sawant is our bona fide trotskyist that at one point said workers should shut down boeing and build buses

She's also the one whose mask slipped by calling Jeff Bezos "the enemy" during an open session discussing the Head Tax, which hilariously resulted in her being protested by the very workers she claims to represent.

Brothers, just let me...

NO HEAD TAX! NO HEAD TAX!

The tremor in her voice as she tried to address "fellow workers" put me at half mast, tbh.

The rejection of the grant funds seemed to surprise everyone present, even those who opposed the ICE grant.

Even González said she assumed her vote would not spike the whole bill. “I did not intend to derail today’s committee hearing in this fashion,” she said.

So, she's admitting she thought her vote was an empty act of virtue signalling.

This is such a small point but so important. "I didn't know my mindless attempt to look woke could possibly have consequences" is maybe the best thing I've seen in 2018, right here at the end of it. Fantastic.

This is some next level retardation

I'm going to be simultaneously amused and depressed when the paste eaters that make up the voting public in this city re-elect almost all of these idiots next year.

And they lead the rest of the state by the nose. Lived my whole life in WA and it finally became unbearable. Moved out and probably wont come back.

I've debated it but can't think of where I'd rather live. I wish that the only other part of the country with this kind of climate wasn't western Appalachia.

That's where I went, kinda!

Place isn't up it's own ass all the time like seattle. There's plenty of places out here that aren't some urban sprawl.

Lmao it's like some Brexiteers voting "leave" and having instant regrets because they thought their vote didn't matter

When keeping it... Fake?... Goes wrong

I noticed something regarding this ICE-rage.

Ever notice how a lot of our politicians are either Mayo-Israeli or Mayo-Hispanic or a raging mayo married to a latino person? And ever notice how they flip the fuck out whenever -their- people are danger?

When ICE was rounding up and cracking Haitian and Cuban skulls, nobody gave any fucks because all of our politicians have nothing in common with Haitians or Cubans. Our media barely covered it, meanwhile the rest of the world was wondering why America was so heartless to people so close to them.

Now that ICE is rounding up and cracking Hispanic Skulls, Part Latin/Part Mayos are having conniptions and are willing to do the absolute most to stop it. Even if the most is bad for them. It's like" THOSE POOR PEOPLE LOOK LIKE ME WE HAVE TO STOP THIS"

When a black , chocolate mayo, or a native politician does something that favors their people, they're instantly accused of favoritism and being racist against everyone else. At first I thought I was looking into this too hard, but the dots are honestly connecting and I'm not liking the tune that's playing.

Don't mind me. The problem of being truly woke is that everything is a nightmare.

Megaton blackpill

The grant was intended to reimburse the Seattle Police Department for “overtime associated with conducting investigations related to narcotics, money and other contraband at ports and borders” and not directly related to immigration enforcement.

Aha! I think we know the REAL reason...

So this is all it takes to get small government? Fuck it, im only voting for Slurpee machines from now on

Even González said she assumed her vote would not spike the whole bill. “I did not intend to derail today’s committee hearing in this fashion,” she said.

Haha she was only attempting to virtue signal when she thought it was a purely symbolic measure only, literally wouldn’t have said shit if she knew she was the vote to sink it.

Even González said she assumed her vote would not spike the whole bill. “I did not intend to derail today’s committee hearing in this fashion,” she said.

But virtue signally totally don't real y'all

Liberals are the real money-savers. Fiscal conservatism BTFO.

Lefties are the real reactionaries.
