Visited Bangkok. Its air smells like gasoline all the time, it’s full of Indians trying to sell you cheap suits, full of old dude with jailbait in their arms, traffic, humidity, and not much to do besides the malls. Googled some opinions and came across the thread. Nothing mentioned in the thread changed my perspective, but wasn’t surprised about the truthful sex industry answer.
I've found some beautiful places but they were far removed from tourists. I have s good friend who owns a guesthouse in Chiang Mai, he let us borrow his car which made national forests and remote temples much more accessible. He also put me onto an island off the west coast that wasn't overrun by tourists, we were 2 out of 15 westerners there. They used to have a great diving company that had a shipwreck as one of their destinations but when I went back early this year they were gone. As far beaches and Islands go I prefer Tahiti. I purchased tickets to Bali earlier this year then that Volcano happened and the only desirable place the airline offered to switch our flight to was Thailand. It was cool but mainly because I have friends there
