There are literally two locations that matter in MO: KC and STL. Jeff city has a tangible population like, once a year, Springfield, Columbia, Kirksville, etc, all exist solely because of colleges. Any other sign of civilization is a myth
For context, back in the 30s, IIRC, StL had close to 1 million people living there. The railroads come to StL and said "Yo, we wanna make this place a travel/distribution hub, but you gotta give us tax breaks and shit." Well, StL County and the City of StL, along with all the suburbs, couldn't get their shit together so the railroads told them to fuck off and went to Chicago. Ever since them the population has been in decline, which is why there are so many empty houses there.
This is also what started the feud between StL and Chicago and their sports teams.
