Marx never said this. That's not what he meant by a "dictatorship of the proletariat" at all. By that he just meant that the working class should have absolute control over the state and the economy as a means of ultimately achieving a global, classless, stateless society.

An Authority responsible for policing such behavior is nessesary for the continued survival of the experiment, possessing that authority automatically grants them power over others, thus, communism becomes a lie.
The belief that a truly benevolent dictator can be found to maintain the rules of a communist utopia without being corrupted is a lie. Communism from it's onset is flawed. While capitalism is also flawed in the ways previously mentioned, it is honest about it's meritocratic and exploitative nature, or at least those aspects should be readily apparent.

Sure, you COULD have a tyranny of the majority, but at least democracy guards against the tyranny of an individual, the dictator you keep bringing up. Democracy makes tyranny less likely, not impossible, and it also prevents bloody civil wars and revolutions. But yes, the population must be enlightened, rational and empathetic in order for a democracy to produce a libertarian socialist society, which I believe should be the goal.

Authoritarian left and right are almost indistinguishable at their apex, both heavily control their populations with propaganda, both impose (often criminal) penalties for straying outside of the imposed societal margins. The original goals may have been different but the ultimate result is the same -- totalitarian power for those at the top and subjugation for those below.
