It's the same reason she wants to go find a guy to choke her and spit on her a little in the bedroom. He has no respect for himself, he treats her too kindly. He doesn't do anything for himself and always lets her have her way. He sets ZERO boundaries for himself and has no standard for her to respect.
This may as well be four children living in the house, except one has a job and responsibilities and the other one wants new toys. Whatever bullshit excuse she is using to finally reach her revelation is a convenience, nothing more. You don't just come to and confront a conclusion like this overnight.
Personality and relationship issues aside, you should be concerned that she has found a way to finally confront you about this. She has stayed with you for so long because you have been putting a roof over her head. She doesn't have an income, she has no way to provide. Even though she's not attracted to you, there's comfort in the easy life you're giving her.
She's still unemployed... so what changed? I guess there's a very small chance she's so fed up she's willing to be homeless, but I doubt it. A better guess would be she knows you are so damn easy to walk all over she can do whatever she wants in your house... including bring other men home. The other possibility, she already has her eyes on someone else and her next move is already planned. In fact I guarantee you if she proposed this dating idea because she already knows who she wants to date. This situation you're in may as well be a relationship cliche. It happens so often it should be put in a textbook and studied.
You should seek a divorce lawyer, in terms of Chess you are about 3 whole games behind.
EDIT: And for the record, she's a shit person. If she wants a divorce and away from you she should be figuring out how she's going to provide for her kids. These feelings of hers didn't manifest overnight, at some point in her last 3 years of unemployment she should have been doing SOMETHING to start an income. You're telling me the first thing on her mind is dating?
