The Punisher is like the gayest character ever tbh. Just a rip off of an amalgamation of Clint Eastwood characters but without any of the charm or originality.
Nah, he is a Vietnam Vet whose family gets killed in the crossfire of a mob turf war. The Punisher then starts a one man war against crime. In the early days it was ok but the character becomes more unbelievable as time goes on (able to defeat entire armies and countries by himself) to the point that it is running on empty atm.

So just to clarify, the comic was written ~20 years ago and the dude himself is very old and Irish. He seems very aware that everyone else has got the fuck over it.
His take does seem pretty much identical to yours, where he thinks they're dumb kids suckered by idealism and at best an anarchronism. I think he just picks the 'pro-ireland' side because they're the ones nominally involved in organized crime and so the better angle for the Punisher to explore the idea as a story.
He does also explain it from the perspective of a grizzled English SAS dude, who has a very cynical/pragmatic take on the whole thing being a convenient excuse to train UK soldiers in a 'warzone' in their backyard.
Nope. Not even close to true, in fact he's been taking down and killing Nazis in recent issues. He's just a guy with severe trauma and mental issues who take about the most depraved, evil people.
Oh yeah. You have to think from the perspective of a socialist/commie. Frank Castle is ex-military (so a state terrorist/murderer) who acts outside of the government's authority, he kills drug dealers (Chapo's heroes of course) and other criminals without the permission of a bureaucrat. He represents everything that tankies and their ilk despise: individualism, justice without supervision of the State, and ridding this world of degenerate filth.
He's a vietnam vet who freaked out and killed lowlifes on a massive scale. This naturally was gang members and mobsters. That's problematic these days, so instead he's killing corrupt CIA/FBI agents (along with a proud woman of color) and now alt right Christian fundamentalists.
