I kinda had some sympathy after the first post posted here, but after this pussy move I hope her stupid book doesn't get published and the mob gets what it wants. YoungAdultGate when?
I am genuinely interested in how someone on the internet in the year 2019 could ask that question. And not just someone, but an /r/drama reader. People getting offended and needing others to know about it, that's what we do here.
It's like he doesn't even know about Bird Box or Air Pods (which are a must-have social status symbol, if you are a non financially-affluent, coastal Ameriburger.).
This is what I do. I just keep them all on a special bookshelf labelled "The Worstest Most Offensive Offending Books EVAAAAR 😨😨😨" and there they stay. Seriously it is so easy to do.
Not even Western censors. By Twitter users who aren't offended themselves, but are concerned that the content MIGHT offend someone somewhere on Earth at some undefined point in time. Won't someone think of that poor sensitive person? You guys make me want to fucking throw up.
Deciding not to publish something because others have raised concerns is NOT an infringement of free speech. It would be an infringement of free speech if Amelie published her book and was arrested for its content. Don't cheapen her very poignant decision with inaccuracies.
Exactly. When I want to talk about free speech, it doesn't start and end on the first amendment. When I say I believe in free speech I mean that I believe in the open discussion of ideas between all people, it's a moral and philosophical thing, not a legal one. But people like to wag their finger back at you and go "nuh uh, the guberment didn't do it so it's not infringing on ur rights, sweaty"
Time for Twitter do the right thing and close up shop. Yeah yeah we'll lose the lolcows but sometimes you just got to make those kinds sacrifices. Plus we'll always still have tumblr.
There's just no way in hell she lived 18 years in China. Say what you will about the Chinese but they don't give a fuck about anything that gets in their way. Their government is a brutal dictatorship in the midst of genocide and the air in most of their biggest cities is literally poison; you think they're gonna give a shit about pronouns and throw away years of work cause of some twitter retards?
her bio says she was "born in Paris and raised in a multicultural community in Beijing". Probably sent by rich parents to an international school and raised in a Western environment with the intention of going overseas for college.
Meh I have no sympathy. If you're so fragile that people on twitter are able to browbeat you into doing what they want via internet comments that's on you
For all we know she was more or less forced to do that due to the fact that the YA audience is the retarded woke one.
It's like if I started selling marshmallow pies for a living, you bet your ass I'm going to start putting truck nutz on my car and wearing rebel flag t-shirts.
So what is the answer here? The priper procedure, should she have just ignore then? If she didn't want to be with SJWs putting her pronouns in her bio is already bending the knee once. You do it once you are already fucked cause the woke patrol is gonna expect you to always stay in line.
So i ask again, what is proper procedure here? Just ignore it?
The best way to "deal with" woke mobs on Twitter seems to be just ignoring them. A lot of people are in it just to get a rise out of someone or "shut them down" to feel like they're a part fo the greater good or some kind of online army. If you ignore them soon enough they find the next person to sink their teeth into, and maybe the next person will kowtow to them, which is the only thing they want
By this, you mean "freely and willingly did that in order to temporarily gain some fair-weather friends whom she thought (wrongly) might help to advance her career"?
I also like the books in the background, showing that much of her identity is wrapped up in being a writer. No publisher will touch her again now that she's demonstrated how unreliable she is.
It's important that your background illustrate who are. That's why I always take pictures with my stack of Mein Kampf's and rare Pokémon cards behind me. Exudes credibility and gets the brand out there.
I know Twitter banned people who had the anon avatars even though they weren't even bullying any specific group. But will they ban you if you make fun of this stuff in your bio?
They were sperging out because a blurb for the book said it described a fantasy world in which "oppression was blind to skin colour." They seem to believe (or want to believe) that the author was claiming that racism doesn't exist.
But the real explination here is simply that YA readers and authors are hysterical morons who stopped maturing at age 15.
Jesse Singal has a thread on twitter explaining it in more deapth.
But a growing number of critics say the draggings, well-intended though they may be, are evidence of a growing dysfunction in the world of YA publishing. One author and former diversity advocate described why she no longer takes part: “I have never seen social interaction this fucked up,” she wrote in an email. “And I’ve been in prison.”
She has a character in it that was bronze skinned with blue eyes and they took that to mean a black person so she got hit for the bad things happening to this imaginary "black" person and then for her having the audacity to have a "black" person with blue eyes.
They keep making up goofy names for themselves and have been doing this for years. They mock gaming for being too escapist from reality and then they call themselves stupid names on their twitter profiles.
So it's a shit book then. Most books are crap. New writers have to write a few horrible books before they write something okay. So I'm not sure society overall is losing anything here. Just burn her book. No one cares.
My first book was a steamy gay romance novel that was basically 300 pages of describing the sound sweaty balls make when they feverishly slap up against a freshly shorn bussy. My next book will be way better.
Hmmmmm, YA Authors bully an up and coming POC YA author so she can't release her new book but she has a book coming out? Really activates the almonds 🤔
The YA author needs some Brain Force from the Infowars store to help them break the conditioning and help them realize that the Twatter outrage is funded by the deep state to prevent that book from getting into the hands of aliens from Alpha Centauri.
I don't know if fantasy YA outnumbers non-Fantasy YA. Though I wouldn't be surprised.
As for novels that let you relive the happy, eventful school life you never had I'd be interested in hearing some suggestions ...
John Green's stuff.
I think if you genuinly want suggestions you'll run into the problem that high-school anime is mostly written for boys and neckbeards while (Western) YA is mostly going to be written for teen girls or stay at home mothers. So mileage may vary.
And the few male authors (John Green ae) tend to be nu-males.
John Green is awful ... I don't think YA would be good for me then.
As for highschool anime I think some of it can be pretty good, though I'm a bit too old to be a boy now but not a neckbeard either. Some shows like Tsuki ga Kirei are legitly real good. Some are just sort of entertaining and the SoL shows are usually pretty soothing.
I usually have some kind wiseass reply to identity politics garbage like this but reading some of the tweets by the muh-slavery-not-okay hate mob in there is making me fucking sick. And fuck that cowardly author for kowtowing to them and allowing them to get away with it. I hate you all.
Jesus fuck where's my waifu pillow I'm going to bed.
Lol why the f is this chick putting those pronouns in her bio. All the Chinese people I’ve met are far less retarded when it comes to this nonsense, e.g. my Chinese wife cringes when I talk about feminine penis.
BLOOD HEIR is the first book in an epic new series about a princess hiding a dark secret and the conman she must trust to clear her name of murder.
Princess Anastacya Mikhailov of Cyrilia has lived her life in safety, hidden behind palace walls. But when she is framed for her father’s brutal murder, she must leave behind everything she has ever known to find his killer and prove her innocence. And there is only one person corrupt enough to help her – Ramson Quicktongue.
A cunning, silver-tongued crime lord of the Cyrilian underworld, Ramson has his own sinister plans – though he might have met his match in Ana. Because in this story, the princess might be the most dangerous player of them all.
A YA epic with a bloody twist, BLOOD HEIR is perfect for fans of Victoria Aveyard, Sabaa Tahir, and Sarah J. Maas.
How do you find something problematic in that lmao.
Also, Cyrilia probably isn't the most original name for a Slav-inspired kingdom.
Just remember that thousands of teens are reading this woke BS and getting indoctrinated while their still impressionable. The publishers
must be removed.
Well this makes me not want to keep writing now. If I'm going to get bashed until I either retreat and not publish or publish and things escalate, why bother?

Hemingway's first novel was his best
1 FollowingLeader 2019-01-30
Stephen King's first published novel was Carrie, and his first written was The Long Walk, both are considered essential King books.
Hemingway's first novel was The Sun Also Rises
JK Rowling's was Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
J.R.R. Tolkien's was The Hobbit
First novels are oftentimes great, occasionally even their best.
1 I-165 2019-01-30
Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell can be added to that list.

What exactly was the problem with the story? Can somebody summarize?

What an absolute fucking moron.
Pandering to SJWs never ends well.
1 silvertongue93 2019-01-30
The YA author needs some Brain Force from the Infowars store to help them break the conditioning and help them realize that the Twatter outrage is funded by the deep state to prevent that book from getting into the hands of aliens from Alpha Centauri.
1 ShacoinaBox 2019-01-30
ya isn't actually for young adults, it's for lonely 20-40 year olds who want to relive the glory years they never really had in the first place.
she should not have bowed down to these cretins.
1 WatermelonMcNuggets 2019-01-30
no that's highschool anime
1 ParticularDrummer 2019-01-30
So is a good deal of what is labeled as YA.
1 WatermelonMcNuggets 2019-01-30
isn't YA mostly boring Fantasy stuff?
As for novels that let you relive the happy, eventful school life you never had I'd be interested in hearing some suggestions ...
1 ParticularDrummer 2019-01-30
I don't know if fantasy YA outnumbers non-Fantasy YA. Though I wouldn't be surprised.
1 WatermelonMcNuggets 2019-01-30
John Green is awful ... I don't think YA would be good for me then.
As for highschool anime I think some of it can be pretty good, though I'm a bit too old to be a boy now but not a neckbeard either. Some shows like Tsuki ga Kirei are legitly real good. Some are just sort of entertaining and the SoL shows are usually pretty soothing.
1 ParticularDrummer 2019-01-30
You aren't fooling anyone.
1 WatermelonMcNuggets 2019-01-30
I have a shitty job and even shave like all 3 days or so (just don't need to more often)
I'm more like a Japanese salaryman than a neckbeard
1 sockerpopper 2019-01-30
A majority of anime is just cartoon YA.

Just checking my sexism is still calibrated, I'm seeing a very strong split between Men decrying the bullying and Women cheering for it.

>YA
Nothing of value was lost
The audience that reads YA is retarded, so no sympathy to anyone in this drama.
1 bussy_queen 2019-01-30
Lol why the f is this chick putting those pronouns in her bio. All the Chinese people I’ve met are far less retarded when it comes to this nonsense, e.g. my Chinese wife cringes when I talk about feminine penis.
1 Bigbewmistaken 2019-01-30
Anybody past 17 reading YA novels should be shot. Especially Harry Potter, inshallah.

The publishers must be removed.
1 KupKate95 2019-01-30
Well this makes me not want to keep writing now. If I'm going to get bashed until I either retreat and not publish or publish and things escalate, why bother?
