Faith schools receive state funding. It's because all state schools have to feature a daily "collective act of worship" which is "broadly of Christian nature", unless they're a private school. The government funded Catholic and Jewish schools and then decided this was a dumb rule and so funded a load of religious schools.
christian schools, at least in the us are not shit for the most part, the private school i went to was christian and we even had weekly church services and it was still probably one of the most liberal high schools in the state (and probably the region given my states penchant for liberalism over the surrounding states) in terms of topics covered, views given, tolerance taught, etc... along with the most prestigious jewish school in the state
