If you're in the US there is. On my phone I just went to settings and searched alerts.

As an Ontario resident who is about 500km away from Brampton, I'd be super cool with not getting an amber alert.

If they think the kidnapper is capable of FTL travel, I'd understand, but I doubt my being alerted is meaningful, and I'm know the technology exists to only target a region of towers.

This is roughly a 4 hour drive away which is apparently impossibly far away for a child that's been missing for 8 hours

Oh my dear god. This was a life or death emergency. They were trying to save the life of a small child. Has the fabric of our society become so hideously fractured as to anaesthetize people to an act such as this?? It's designed to shock us. Its designed to be inconvenient. It's designed to disseminate vital information in a life or death situation. Are we really so devoid of compassion for our fellow humans? Maybe it's too intrusive... GOOD!! If it was your loved one, wouldn't you rather EVERYBODY KNOW!?!? You'd want everybody in the province to know. Anybody who argues against this should be a candidate for an "American Migration Experience!!!": We send them and their loved ones on an all expenses paid one way trip to Mexico! While their, they can attempt to reenter Canada but first need to join up with one of the migrant caravans in order to ensure safe passage through drug-war ravaged Northern Mexico to the US border. Once at the US border they'll have the opportunity to enjoy being ripped apart from their loved ones! With the adults being shipped back to Canada and the children all set to start their new lives as adopted foster children somewhere in the Southern US, never to see eachother again... it should help impart some empathy into these complete discredits to the human race! And dont start yammering on about how 'the system's imperfect'... Every system in the world is imperfect in some way!!! Either suggest an improvement or go stand on the Gardiner so we can all pray for someone to throw a chair!
