For one, if the guy did get his hands on a firearm legally, and it later came out that he was a "known person", then I'm sorry -but that is not the fault of law abiding citizens, and we should not be punished by having our rights infringed upon. That is a failure of the authorities to do their jobs and get these people help, if they are such a red flag, before they hurt people.
Secondly, even if they are scooped up off the streets, arrested, committed, etc... even if their rights are removed... they're still going to get a gun if they really want one. If they're dead set on shooting someone, they'll find a gun through other criminals. Obama made sure the cartels and the gangs had plenty of them. Firearms will never go away 100%, from any country, ever.
The only people who will have them in a nation that confiscates them, are the government and criminals.
Third -if it comes out that the guy is a fucking psychopath, like so many of these people are, and he was known to the authorities... why the fuck was he even on the streets to begin with? Why do we just know about all of these people who are apparently ticking time bombs, who just snap and murder all kinds of innocent folks, and just do nothing? Like that fuck from Florida?
That's a failure of the system. Allowing someone like that to just keep roaming the streets, while being known to be an imminent threat... that's fucking irresponsible and is also inhumane to the freaking nutjob. Some of them just need professional help/care.
