Linking a post is brigading, but it isn’t. You don’t have to use np but you cannot comment or participate in a linked thread unless some other bullshit. Also if you cross post and put a link in the original post you are brigading.
That is my understanding, the policy is clear as mud.
Here's the thing, they keep talking about foreign political influence. When are they going to do something about the millions of Canadians posting about American domestic politics? They should at least introduce flags so we know when they should be dismissed.
Reddit's fundamental mechanics are different enough from 4chans that the two could never look that similar. And since they're only worried about political influence they would only implement it on the major political subs.
we also implemented a Reliable Reporter system, and we continue to expand that program’s scope. This includes working very closely with users who investigate suspicious behavior on a volunteer basis, and playing a more active role in communities that are focused on surfacing malicious accounts.
Hey look, they officially sanctioned the Boston Bomb Reddit Detectives.
If the admins engage with the "investigators" regularly, it might not become a shitshow.
lol the admins are still random assholes just like redditors, they're not investigators or police or detectives or whatever. it'll just be an officially sanctioned shitshow.
we have a team focused on the detection and investigation of content manipulation on Reddit. Content manipulation can take many forms, from traditional spam and upvote manipulation to more advanced, and harder to detect, foreign influence campaigns
Pretty sure they once reset my password because of something like this. They told users that their profiles were gone unless they had an email address on their Reddit profile. So I personally could reset the password. They will do this more often now I think and have 100% of users uaw email. Probably did it to me because I have a Russian name.
Lol of course its a power mod. Wouldn't be surprised for a second if it was another Belle situation, where one of them set it up. Since it had like 10 subscribers when one of them "Found it" before it got quarantined. So you could still see the subscriber count. And 4 posts, 3 of which by the same guy, 4th probably his alt given the username.
This is like that fucking Youtube Heroes shitshow from a few years ago, the onky difference being plebbitors are so lacking in self awareness that they can't possibly fathom how this system can and will be gamed by the userbase. This is peak mayo shit if I've ever seen it.

no way that this won't attract a certain type of person
it's not quite the same as being a powermod but you still get the smug satisfaction of being able to silence people you don't like.

You're oversimplifying a complex situation to the point of adding nothing to the discussion.

They're unironically retarded and smug. Being one IQ point ahead of the fucktard next to you doesn't erase the fact that you're a fucktard

Why not compromise with S_TD? The type to get offended can pick their poison.
1 Coonass_alt 2019-02-16
so can i just report every post from TMOR and the litany of other leftist brigades and watch the admins do nothing? lol
1 Alicesnakebae 2019-02-16
If linking a post is brigade than every sub is brigading

They should copy 4chan's flag system so that you can tell which country the user is from
1 Dopella 2019-02-16
Imagine the fallout when there's zero russian flags on pro-Daddy posts
1 Seattle_Bussy_Lmao 2019-02-16
Wrong. Everyone loves daddy round the world.
1 bearshark713 2019-02-16
Obviously the Russian government pays for a vpn membership for every patriotic citizen.

1 Lehk 2019-02-16

1 Seattle_Bussy_Lmao 2019-02-16
Everyone would just bully the Canadians
1 SethLJM 2019-02-16
And then we bully the natives. As is tradition.

I'm excited.
1 TriggersTheWiggers 2019-02-16
If the admins engage with the "investigators" regularly, it might not become a shitshow. But this smells like the antispam subreddit that got canned.
1 -Kite-Man- 2019-02-16
You seem to trust the admins a lot more than I do.
1 TriggersTheWiggers 2019-02-16
I wouldn't say that.
They fucked up the official app again lol

maybe because it is quarantined and literally doesnt have a full page of content.
1 Redactor0 2019-02-16
It really says something about Reddit admins' competence that they never thought of just quarantining every sub with "nigger" in its name by default.
1 RandolphCox 2019-02-16
ya but what if i wanted to make a fun sub called /r/sniggered?
1 Zeriell 2019-02-16
I'm surprised there isn't an r/enough_nigger_spam
