The real reason of this is because women get molested so much on the trains. I was also groped back in Tokyo. Don’t know if I was super unlucky or it’s just so common. I am leaning on it being it so common that they need to give an option for women to be separated from men on the train.
Honestly, this has turned me off from going to major cities here. I hate big crowds and being groped by so many hands is a bit traumatizing.
