I did a research paper this summer on this subreddit and there was a published study that found that 74% of attacks on Reddit came from 1% of source subreddits. I assume that subs like r/Drama are the 1%.
"We were yeeting around." -> "We were fooling around/goofing off".
"Do you want some cake? Yeet!" -> "Yes."
"Get the yeet in here biaaaatch!" -> "Hurry up and come over here Susan."
It's essentially just one of those things that people flavor their speech with in order to seem cool, but come off instead as incredibly desperate like a nerdy kid in 5th grade whose parents won't buy him a members only jacket so he has to wear a cheep knock off from Kmart's "MAN'S CLUB".
The best explanation I've found is, it's like when you throw a wad of paper into a trashcan, you do it with finesse you yell "Kobe!". When you just power throw it you yell "Yeet!" At least that's what the kids told me.
Cringe- Been semi popular since probably 2014. Only broke to the normie soc media masses about a year ago. Still good to use post or uninronically because it most accurately describes the feeling we are talking about. Not a zoomer term.
Cope- From incel culture. Been popular maybe a year or two. Ok to use sometimes, in particular when dismissing others arguments to make way for your own point, e.g., You: “OMG we’re like totally destroying the environment! OMG like black people cause crime!” Me: “Cope. You only care about that stuff because you can’t fuck hot teen pussy (legal).” Rightfully considered a zoomer term.
Yikes- Gay AIDS shit. Very effeminate thing to say, even ironically. Zoomer term for college girls. Means you like to suck cock.
Seethe- Never heard or seen. Presumably some more hip zoomer shit for college white girls and instagram black guys. Probably also related to sucking cock.
Unbased- Not commonly used. Totally unacceptable. “Based” alone however, was popular from like as far back as 2010 through Lil B. Probably peaked in 2012 and was later adopted by the “alt right”. “Based” or “based and redpilled” are still cool to use both ironic and unironically in moderation. Particularly funny when approving of something immoral or autistic, e.g., You: “When I was a kid I jerked off the family dog.” Me: “Based.” If anything it’s a doomer or 30 year old boomer term though.
Personally, when I see something lame, gay, retarded, cringe, etc. online I just refer to it as being “reddit.” As for which of these you should use in your real life, if you want normal go “stupid” or “lame”. If you want pseudo-intellectual (nobody will ever see you genuinely intellectual) go with “obtuse” or “inane”. And if you are cool like me and want to go edge use “gay” or “retarded”. Then again, don’t go outside much so can’t be sure.
In other words, It's not like "yeet" which is an entirely new word, and it's not like "literally" which changed to mean it's opposite. The words aren't "zoomer" words cause they aren't unique slang to the new generation, if anything using the infinitive incorrectly is a "zoomer" thing not the words themselves.

I would assume so. Are there words that don't?
1 HarryD52 2019-02-19
I just always assumed that it was a word that would be thrown around randomly to confuse clueless boomers.
1 alphetasauce 2019-02-19
If that's what it was, it worked on me. I'm the 30 year old boomer meme come to life.

It's just a generic positive form verb.

You realize these are all actual words whose only change for their dictionary definition is that people are using the infinitive form incorrectly?
1 swellysmokes 2019-02-19
You realize that’s how all languages evolve, right?
1 cleverseneca 2019-02-19
In other words, It's not like "yeet" which is an entirely new word, and it's not like "literally" which changed to mean it's opposite. The words aren't "zoomer" words cause they aren't unique slang to the new generation, if anything using the infinitive incorrectly is a "zoomer" thing not the words themselves.
1 HarryD52 2019-02-19
The words themselves aren't really zoomer, but using them as single word replies to somebody else is a very zoomer thing to do.
