Serious post, zoomer cutoff is somewhere between late 90s and 2000. 2000 is just a nice round number, and I think it more accurately represents the group of people who I have no shared culture with, and understand what xoomers were talking about when they criticized us moomers.
So, you might be mixing up "30 year old boomer" and "zoomer." "Zoomer" refers to gen Z, who are the youngest generation right now. The monster can meme Wojack that 4chan popularized due to a copypasta was a "30 year old boomer," and I think some people have been mixing up him with "zoomer."
If you're 45, you're Gen X, which is rarely called Xoomer.
Zoomer (Gen Z): born somewhere close to the 2000's and later, most of them just reaching college now
Millenial (Gen Y) (where the "30 year old Boomer" meme came from): generally between 20-35, though the younger of them may identify more with zoomer culture and older may identify with Gen X, simply because Millenials mostly identify with being a teenager in the mid 90's and pre apple 2000's, imo. 9/11 was a big deal for this generation.
Gen X: born somewhere between mid 60's and mid 70's, usually parents of younger millenials and the oldest zoomers. This generation identifies with being a teenager during the 80's, for the most part, but the older of them are closer to boomer tier. Youngest of them do not, however, identify with millenials at all, really.
Boomers: people born during the baby boom, could go into it but I've already typed way too much about stuff.
I actually do appreciate you laying that out to the degree that you did.
Back in my day we were(trying to at least) draw a clear line between those two halves of Y, the cultural differences being pretty profound.
I'm in there, and I kind of miss that? A line of demarcation seems really meaningfully useful.
I definitely have more in common with the Gen X kids than the Z's and younger half of Y. Not having a PC in the house and them not having GUIs or the web for the first 10-15 years of life being a big part of that.
Yeah, theres a lot of cultural defining events that sort of shape each generation. I'd say pre 9/11 and post 9/11 are big things, along with how technology developed. For instance, Gen Y is as good with technology and learning it as Gen X, but Gen Z regressed in that regard, most likely due to the rise of really user friendly apps, and not having to learn how a lot of things worked in that regard. A developer who started coding in the 80's vs one who started in the 90s or even the early 00's will probably all have similar code practices and experiences despite the technological revolutions that happened every decade (it felt like)
And yeah, I see what you're saying about Gen Y, they really encompassed a lot of years. I'm the younger half of it, but I think the problem was that, while we were trying to define a definite line between "teenager in the 90s" and "sub teenager in the 90s," 9/11 came along and just really became the defining cultural moment for anyone who remembered it.
If I had to create a generation, I'd leave the older generation as Gen X and the younger would Gen teXt or Gen Tech or Gen TeX, on account of the growing technology or the whole teenage cell phone generation.

Wait, then why does Zoomer media describe Zoomers as 45+?

There are two types of college.
1) Places you’ve heard of.
2) Places that are just an overpriced extension of high school.

Fatty shouldn't have tried to eat the pitbull. Most dogs don't like people trying to eat them.
