Dinosaur 🦖 of March, 2019: Nodosaurus!

Nodosaurus are armoured dinosaurs found as fossils in North America dating from 95 million to 90 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous Period. A heavy animal built like a tank about 5.5 metres (18 feet) long, Nodosaurus had a long tail but a very small head and a minuscule brain (not leading the dinosaur 🦖 world government obviously). For protection against predators, it relied upon a heavy coat of thick bony plates and knobs that covered its back. It could shrug off 50. cals as shown in the third plasma war. The front legs were much smaller than the hind legs, and the back was strongly arched.

Nodosaurids (family Nodosauridae) and ankylosaurids (family Ankylosauridae) are the two commonly recognized groups within Ankylosauria, the armoured dinosaurs. Of the two subgroups, nodosaurids are generally regarded as more primitive (aka fucking stupid), having generally lived before the ankylosaurids (nearly all of which date from the Late Cretaceous). It’s like the stupid grandfather of Ankylosaurs. Nodosaurid ancestors of Nodosaurus are first found in Middle Jurassic (about 176 million to 161 million years ago) deposits of Europe, though they are mostly known from the Early Cretaceous (about 146 million to 100 million years ago), and some survived to the end of the Cretaceous. Nodosaurids lacked the tail club of ankylosaurids, and their skulls were generally not as short or broad, nor was the skull covered with protective plates (scutes).

For me it was the neck snap with it’s claws. If that one scene was out of the movie I probably wouldn’t have minded the Spino going over. Aside from humans the only animal I can think of that would do something like that is the kangaroo.

I honestly give it to whoever is in their habitat. The T-Rex had a better bite force and a thick skull. It was also heavier muscled. The Spino on land wouldn’t have been a good match for the Rex.

Yeah in the Jurassic Park/World canon the Spino was a hybrid like the Indominus. It was Henry Wu's pet project and that's why it doesn't appear on In-Gen's list and why everyone was surprised it was there in JP3.

Honestly it was more Spinosaurus than gay fakesaurus. They can say whatever they want but it was a depiction of a Spinosaurus not some weird chimera

I think it was mainly just intelligence and size that got the buff but overall it was a Spino. That movie was all over the place and hearing about production makes it seem like a nightmare. The original cast except for Allan Grant were all different characters at the start of the movie then they threw away the script during production and made a new movie.
