In The Lord of the Rings, J. R. R. Tolkien drew upon the language and themes found in the old Medieval hero-tales in order to construct a kind of new mythology. The brilliance of Tolkien was in his departure from the Pagan modes of conduct and morality of these old tales, his creation of a syncretistic fusion between Christian thought and Pagan language, and so his work achieved a deep resonance with all who read it.

We find this passage at the conclusion of The Return of the King:

The Dark Lord was suddenly aware of him, and his Eye piercing all shadows looked across the plain to the door that he had made; and the magnitude of his own folly was revealed to him in a blinding flash, and all the devices of his enemies were at last laid bare.

Adversaries in the stories that Tolkien drew upon, Grendel, Mordred and the like, often served as obstacles that the heroes could overcome through feats of strength and cunning. Sauron is not like them. When Sauron is defeated, it is not because Aragorn is stronger than him or because Gandalf is wiser. They are not. It is only that his hubris was so great that it never occured to him that anyone would want to destroy the thing he held so dear. It is not until the final few seconds of his existence that he realises his mistake.

I think that I Am Jazz displays a similar moment. In the pictured scene, Jazz's journey to what he believes is womanhood is almost complete. He is resting after surgery, a triumphant smile on his face, his rotting groin held together by a labyrinthine patchwork of stitches and grafts. But as Eru IlΓΊvatar nudged Gollum over the Crack of Doom into the fires beneath, so too does the God of our world intervene in this.

Pop!

In a second, the follies of men are undone and Jazz's crotch explodes, a meaty froth of blood and pus pouring out of the hole where his penis used to be.

In that moment of blind panic and terror, Jazz is Sauron. All triumph and victory is gone. Only the Void remains.

webnovel.com === qidian btw.

So you posted some trash you wrote to a sub full of people who have 0 idea what it's about? Lol.

At least post this shite on r/noveltranslations first, then post the reactions. Or for best results, crosspost it to r/China.

Don't come here with this weak shit man.

>Assuming I can write that coherently

No U

Btw, because OP is a dumbass, let me explain the drama.

So there's a website in China where people self-publish serialized novels. That website is called Qidian. A hugely popular genre are super trashy DBZ style novels where some Chinese dude who is incredibly average dies or falls into a portal and goes to a Chinese fantasy world of martial arts and magic and gets some gimmick cheat which lets him be the big swinging dick for the first time in his life. For some reason this shit got popular among weebs and so some American dude created the website wuxiaworld to host unlicensed fan translations. As the site got bigger and they started getting real revenue, they started buying licenses from Qidian and all was good. Then Qidian realized there was a market out here and created their own website, webnovel.com, to host their own fan translations. After a couple months, Qidian sued Wuxiaworld for copyright infringement, Wuxiaworld countersued for breach of contract, etc, etc. There were allegations of Qidian forcing their translations into shitty contracts, etc.

The fanbase obviously split, with most people siding with Wuxiaworld versus the corporate Chinese scrum. Shit got rowdy, especially after Qidian started actually charging money (in the most money grubbing bullshit way possible I might add) but since Qidian does actually own the biggest Chinese web novel publisher, they got all the good novels, so most fans sucked it up and paid their blood tax.

More recently, Qidian has been trying to get people to post their own original stories in English. Which has led to the OP which is a badly written and not at all subtle "takedown" of Qidian posted on their own website.

Oh, also for a while there was a subreddit that just straight up posted pirated qidian novels, but then qidian managed to get em DMCAd for pirated English novels. So that was some amusing drama.

You can type 10,000 characters and you decided that these were the one's that you wanted.

FWIW, the pirate subreddit has migrated to this website, in case anyone wanted to read some weebshit.

Yeah, I'm not poor so I just pay for the QI subscription.

Makes life much easier, and the app is so much better than fucking around with crappy sites.

> Imagine giving the greedy chink site money, and not wuxiaworld

Also, the design and UX of the QU website is unironically better than Qidian's shitty UX.
