Ok, Georgie-boy, you know nothing about Stalin and glorious Soviet Union so delete your 1984 and your Animal Farm because you are harming hard working proletariat you are supposed to be an ally to.
Funny and sad irony is that about 40 years ago, some Nigerian writer wrote about Conrad's Heart of Darkness:
Joseph Conrad is "a thoroughgoing racist" for depicting Africa as "the other world".
When they confronted him that Conrad actually CAN write, he responded with
I never said at any point that you should stop attaching artistic merit to Heart of Darkness; if you want to you can. There are all kinds of sophisticated readings of Heart of Darkness, and there are some people who will not be persuaded there is anything wrong with it. But all that I'm really demanding, I'm not simply putting it, I'm demanding that my reading stand beside these other readings ... Although he's writing good sentences, he's also writing about a people, and their life. And he says about these people that they are rudimentary souls ... The Africans are the rudimentaries, and then on top are the good whites. Now I don't accept that, as a basis for ... As a basis for anything.
40 years later, Africa made no upward move in any important social aspect.
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
What's bad about what he said? He's nothing like woke Twitter who demands that anything they dislike be deplatformed or deleted. All he's asking is that his critique stand alongside others.
I mean Heart of Darkness is a great book but it's also misanthropic as fuck lol
It would be like some Chinese writers accusing "whites" of writing negatively on various aspects of Chinese society while ignoring that is exactly what their society is.
There is no philosophical consciousness specific for Western society just like there is no Western definition of freedom.
There's only a philosophical consciousness and a freedom and West is just best at exercising it.
Damn how did YA books go from sparkly vampires to THIS shit
My sister used to love these books and it was all just love triangles and girly shit. I know for a fucking fact that if it had been about trans fairies having gay romances with refugees that she would've ignored that shit and just read romance novels.
I'm glad the proud gender neutral freaks of this "community" are enjoying their circle jerk of seeing who can write the wokest book, but I have to imagine that their numbers are radically down since the Twilight/Hunger Games era. You can try to convince yourself otherwise all you want, but teen girls don't want SJW crap, they want hetero love stories.
Also the unironic reference to stay in your lane which somehow is the most WπKE SHIT ever despite being exactly the 100% opposite of βprogressiveβ.
he's been living in lebanon since the 70s, through their civil war, and has managed to never end up in a ransom vid with a bag over his head. Pretty impressive tbh
The biggest thing is that trannies were open and out in mughal times and still are both in India and Pakistan. The prince is an interesting take because it would have been a massive deal but as long as there were other sons the emperor would just have sent him to the trannies to raise as their own. Also they were and are called khwaja sirra and used to act as messengers between men and women
As a writer of New Adult, this scares me. This is the third one this year. Maybe it'll fizzle out eventually but odds are higher that it will spread to other genres. And guess what's going to be first? New Adult, as it really is more of a transition genre between full-blown adult novels and YA.
Look, maybe this novel does pander. But that's what they want. And if PANDERING doesn't even work, imagine what'll happen to someone who doesn't pander. I'm a cishet white chick, thus I already am someone that they don't want writing (since I'm white and have no other cards I can play/am willing to play as to why my writing deserves attention) and these people seemingly don't want white writers.
I don't know, but this sets a precedent I think and it scares me.
I've self-published on Amazon before. The KDP side of it is decent. 70% royalties, total creative control. The CreateSpace side of it isn't as great, as you have to sell a certain number to get any royalties. Honestly, even with spamming the shit out of it on Facebook when it came out on Kindle and getting 70% of the money (I think the book was $2.99) I only made about $100 on it, if that. I ended up pulling it because I wanted to fix some issues with it. I'm not sure how well I would've done with better marketing/promotion and if the book had been fully ready for publishing.
I have considered a pen name and actually have one in particular I use for a specific series I've been working on as of late.

You're oversimplifying a complex situation to the point of adding nothing to the discussion.

Every day, I think my life sucks. That I canβt possibly be more of an unlovable autistic retard.
But then I realize Iβm not a blue check mark on Twitter, so my life is actually pretty ok.

Its like they only give out checkmarks to absolute irredeemable retards and "celebrities" to just kinda make it look valid

Heart of Darkness is a slow burn that took me 2 reads to appreciate but what does that have to do with this YA nonsense?
1 newcomer_ts 2019-03-12
People find negative meaning that they project onto author and then send the author to the gallows.
That's... how you say... .Kafkaesque
1 DaddyDrama1 2019-03-12
Uneducated burger detected. You never read Things Fall Apart? And Conrad can be racist and a good author, are you for real?
Even for a tranny, this is one pill-addled daddy issued filled take

A fucking six figure deal for this piece of pandering trash? I unironically hope YA Twitter actually manages to take this one down
1 Maxwyfe 2019-03-12
I was under the impression one had to be talented to be a YA writer. I was wrong.
1 Gusozac 2019-03-12
What retarded thought process led you to this conclusion?
1 Maxwyfe 2019-03-12
A childhood diet of lead infused water and paint chips, I suppose.
1 THOT-AUDITOR 2019-03-12
Remember despite the title the biggest purchasers of this genre are bored wine moms. They're dimestore romance novels with marginally more plot.
1 snallygaster 2019-03-12
The only way you could have formed this impression is if you've never read a YA novel. They are and always have been absolute trash

Write under a pen name and If your book becomes a hot potato it's already out and laugh all the way to the bank.

There's drama brewing every second in the lives of adults who read shit-tier fantasy fiction aimed at 13-year-old girls, I'd imagine.
